Dubai Police honours Honest Taxi Driver for Returning Precious Lost Item

The Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, has honoured Mr. Sultan Iskandar Mohammed, an Uber taxi driver, for handing over a valuable item to the Tourist Police Department.

Brigadier Hareb Mohammed Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, said the honorary recognition of the driver was a commendation of his honesty and embodiment of the noble values that the community greatly values. He noted that the Dubai Police is committed to honouring members of the public for their trustworthiness and dedication to returning found items, which helps reunite the recovered property with its rightful owners and projects a positive image of security and safety within the UAE society.

Brig. Al Shamsi urged community members to see the young man, Sultan Iskandar Mohammed, as a role model of honesty and trustworthiness. He highlighted the availability of the smart 'Lost and Found' service at the smart police stations (SPS) on the beaches, encouraging the public to use this service to return any found items, as this helps reunite recovered property with its rightful owners after being reported missing.

Meanwhile, Sultan Mohammed thanked the Dubai Police for honouring him, saying this recognition fills him with great pride and joy. He said it inspires everyone to emphasize honesty and return lost belongings to their owners.

The ceremony was attended by Lt. Col. Mohammed Abdulrahman, Acting Deputy Director of the Tourism Police Department, and Captain Shehab Al Saadi, Head of the Tourist Happiness Section.

Dubai Police Logs Over 109,000 Calls During Eid Al Adha Holiday

Dubai Police received 109,005 phone calls during the Eid Al Adha holiday, which stretched from June 27 to July 2.

According to Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhairi, Director of the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations of Dubai Police, 104,273 of these calls were emergency calls dialled to 999, while 4,768 were handled by the force's (901) Call Centre.

Colonel Al Muhairi further noted that the call centre also received 945 emails and 2,495 messages through the 'live chat' service on Dubai Police's official website.

"These communications involved a multitude of queries and suggestions from the public, all of which were responded to promptly and with a high degree of professionalism by the competent staff at the call centre," he said.

Colonel Al Muhairi reminded the public to only use the emergency line (999) for actual emergencies and that non-emergency cases or inquiries about the services provided by the Dubai Police to community members should be directed to the call centre at 901.

Praise for Nad Al Sheba Police Station during Annual Inspection

As part of Dubai Police's annual inspection program, Major General Ahmad bin Ghalita, Director of the General Department of Forensic Sciences and Criminology, has recently inspected the Nad Al Sheba Police Station.

Praising the station's efficiency, Maj.Gen. bin Ghalita emphasized that the performance and security measures implemented at the Nad Al Sheba Police Station are exemplary and contribute significantly to the comprehensive security coverage of their jurisdiction. He remarked that it indeed reflects the essence of teamwork spirit.

The inspection began with a general muster, followed by the examination of vehicles and machinery. Maj. Gen. bin Ghalita was then briefed on the daily briefing room, reporting mechanisms, and how crucial information and reports are relayed to the station's staff daily. He also viewed the station's role in supporting other jurisdictional areas and visited the barracks and sports hall, where he met several employees who had achieved athletic accomplishments.

Maj.Gen. bin Ghalita reviewed the performance indicators and the station's response rate, which significantly outperformed the target response time. He examined the administrative work related to human resources, training programs, happiness initiatives, readiness programs, and awareness campaigns.

Towards the end of the inspection, Maj.Gen. bin Ghalita expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all officers, non-commissioned officers, and personnel of the Nad Al Sheba Police Station, appreciating their outstanding efforts in enhancing security and safety.

Dubai Police, UAE Hockey Federation sign an MoU


The Athletes Council at Dubai Police and the UAE Hockey Federation have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance joint sports cooperation in hockey.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Maryam Al Matroushi, Chairman of the Athletes Council, and Mr. Abdullah Sultan Al Dah, President of the Hockey Federation, in the presence of officials from both sides at the Dubai Police Officers Club.

The signing of the MoU demonstrates the mutual keenness of Dubai Police and the UAE Hockey Federation to strengthen cooperation in the sports field, particularly in hockey, which is considered one of the significant global sports.

The MoU stipulates cooperation and participation between both sides in activities related to promoting the sport of hockey in Hemaya schools and private schools, providing hockey jerseys and equipment, and preparing hockey playgrounds for daily training and tournaments. Moreover, the Athletes Council will collaborate with the UAE Hockey Federation to share ideas and initiatives, aiming to develop and promote hockey at a national level.

Furthermore, under this agreement, the UAE Hockey Federation will coordinate and collaborate with the Athletes Council to qualify and train Hemaya School students, organize hockey tournaments and competitions, and provide support and training for physical education teachers at Hemaya Schools.

At the end of the meeting, Al Matrooshi praised the collaborative partnership with the UAE Hockey Federation, which aligns with Dubai Police’s commitment to Strengthening partnerships with the public and private sectors, especially in the sports fields.

Meanwhile, Al Duh demonstrated his excitement at signing the memorandum that will contribute to enhancing joint cooperation in hockey sports.
