CHATGPT Ads have just been accounced and they are 23x higher conversion than Google ads.
800 million users.
Zero competition.
ChatGPT just opened the most unfair ad platform in a decade.
And almost nobody knows about it yet.
On January 16th, OpenAI officially announced:
Ads are coming to ChatGPT.
Not "someday."
In the coming WEEKS.
While everyone else is complaining about this...
I'm going to show you why this might be the biggest advertising opportunity since Facebook ads in 2012.
Here's what you need to understand:
ChatGPT has 800 MILLION active users.
To put that in perspective:
→ Facebook had 1 billion users when ads launched
→ TikTok had 500 million when brands started flooding in
→ Instagram had 300 million when the ad gold rush began
Every single time a platform this size opens advertising...
The early adopters make fortunes.
The late adopters pay 10x more for the same results.
But here's what makes ChatGPT ads DIFFERENT:
The conversion rate for AI chatbot recommendations is 23x higher than traditional search.
Read that again.
TWENTY-THREE TIMES higher.
Why?
Because of how people USE ChatGPT vs Google.
When you Google something, you're skeptical.
You know the top results are ads.
You scroll past them.
You don't trust them.
But when you ASK ChatGPT something?
You're having a conversation.
You TRUST the answer.
You're not defensive.
You're OPEN.
This is what the industry is calling the shift from a "link-based economy" to an "answer-based economy."
And it changes EVERYTHING about advertising.
Here's how ChatGPT ads will work:
Someone asks: "What's the best protein powder for muscle gain?"
ChatGPT gives them a helpful answer.
Then at the bottom: A sponsored recommendation for a protein brand.
But here's the key difference...
That person just told ChatGPT:
→ Their fitness goals
→ Their dietary preferences
→ Their budget concerns
→ Their specific needs
The AI already PRE-QUALIFIED them through the conversation.
By the time they see your ad, they're not a cold lead.
They're a WARM buyer who just told an AI exactly what they want.
This is intent-based advertising on steroids.
Now let's talk about the UNFAIR ADVANTAGE window:
Right now, OpenAI is in "testing phase."
They're launching with select advertisers.
Limited inventory.
Limited competition.
This is EXACTLY what happened with:
→ Facebook ads in 2012 (pennies per click)

→ Average session time is significantly longer than Google searches
→ Users share personal details, goals, and buying intent in conversations
This is the most data-rich, intent-driven ad platform ever created.
And the first advertisers in will have an absurd advantage.
But here's what most people will get WRONG:
ChatGPT ads won't work like Facebook ads.
They won't work like Google ads.
This is a completely new format.
"Sponsored recommendations" inside conversations.

Will dominate.

AI is hot and sexy. But with your marketing, you should think about what it can do for you that is ugly and boring.

For example, most marketers we talk to use AI to create beautiful images and content and eventually plan on using it to create video ad campaigns.

However, we've found that AI content ranks lower at 94.12% of the time over human-written content.

And we haven't seen many examples of AI content generating great social engagement.

According to eMarketer, $601 billion was spent last year on digital ad spend.

According to Bandt, $4 out of every $10 ad spend is wasted. That means roughly $240 billion in ad spend is wasted on bad campaigns.

Having AI continually analyze and monitor all of your data and provide insights on what's working and what's not in real-time with your paid ad spend is boring, but it can help reduce wastage and make your campaigns more profitable.

That would have a much bigger impact on your marketing.

AI is great, but just because something is great doesn't mean it will produce amazing results... especially if you have it focused on the wrong thing.

I get it can do both, but first use it on things that make a much bigger impact. Even if they aren’t cool.
