With Microsoft finally releasing more detail into the Surface tablet, we'll soon find out if there'll be a third player in tablet operating systems (after the two giants of iOS and Android). Can Microsoft get Apple and Google to quit fighting like children (both companies have spent more on patent lawyers than R&D in the past year), simply by introducing something fresh into the market? That might be a stretch of the imagination (remember the Zune mp3 player? Probably not.), but for the sake of competition and progression of technology, we all should be hoping they get a wakeup call soon!
