Mental health affects everyone but for some, the challenges are greater.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the ask is for people to take action to support good mental health. As the Mental Health Foundation says, "Even small actions can help us feel hopeful and less powerless."

In the workplace, this means employers actively promoting good mental health and providing support for employees experiencing challenges such as anxiety or depression.

People managers play a key role. Day to day, they’re best placed to have sensitive conversations, make helpful adjustments, and signpost to specialist support where needed.

That’s why employee health and wellbeing should be a core part of every HR strategy and central to how organisations operate. Read the CIPD viewpoint and recommendations for employers: https://lnkd.in/enDJjEW5 [link in story and bio]

A meaningful moment for the people profession in .

HR leaders and business partners gathered in for an inaugural event celebrating the first CIPD approved delivery site in . The highlight of the event was a lively panel discussion that brought forward insightful views on the future of the profession.

We heard clear messages about the need for the profession to be more strategically aligned with business, to build the behavioural capabilities that define effective leadership, and to ensure technology, especially AI, is used responsibly and ethically.

Africa’s young and growing workforce presents great opportunity, and capability development will be key. The panel emphasised that professional pathways and lifelong learning will play an essential role in shaping the future.

A proud step forward, and a reminder of the impact our profession can make in building better work and working lives.

A big thank you to our partners for organising such an impactful event and bringing the community together.

🤝 In the Middle East, employers play a vital role in supporting their people — especially during times of uncertainty. In our multicultural workplaces, teams experience these moments differently, often far from the support systems they’d usually rely on, while loved ones abroad watch events unfold from a distance.

Our upcoming session will explore how leaders can strengthen wellbeing and psychological safety, helping teams stay resilient and connected. Expect practical, real‑world strategies for leading with empathy, communicating clearly, and building trust when it matters most.
