In a stunning display of teleoperated robotics, Chinese tech firm Dobot Robotics showcased its humanoid robot Atom preparing a steak while being remotely controlled from 1,118 miles (1,800 km) away. The engineer, stationed in Guangdong, wore a VR headset that transmitted hand gestures to Atom, which flawlessly replicated the movements in Shandong. The robot performed delicate culinary tasks—dabbing the steak, pouring oil, flipping it, and sprinkling salt—with 0.05 mm precision and 28 degrees of freedom, demonstrating a level of dexterity rarely seen in humanoid machines.
