Thinking of Domestic Work in Dubai?
I speak to many professionals who are eager to relocate to the UAE and are considering roles such as nanny or cleaner, even though they have no prior experience in this field.
We must be honest about what these roles involve. Nanny and domestic work are physically and emotionally demanding, especially in a fast-paced environment like Dubai. These jobs require specific skills, patience, and experience - they are not “easy” roles as many people may think.
If you already have qualifications or work experience in other areas, you may want to consider entry-level roles such as customer service or admin positions within reputable companies. These roles often provide structured training, career growth, and long-term progression.
Learning something new is possible in any field. The same willingness you have to learn domestic work can also be applied to other entry-level roles that may better align with your background and offer faster career growth.
If you already have experience as a nanny or cleaner and are looking to transition into the UAE market, then that path makes sense. Otherwise, it may be worth reassessing where your skills can be best used.
The time and effort spent searching for domestic roles could also be used to explore other opportunities that match your experience and future goals.
Domestic workers in the UK or the USA are paid on a very different salary scale compared to domestic workers in the UAE.
