Job description
We are seeking candidates who provide thought leadership and timely, actionable market insights, derived from the analysis of market research, marketplace data, and expert opinion, in order to drive informed executive decision-making, both within and across business units and functions. The Advisor role entails working within a team, taking responsibility for the provision of market information in support of business and marketing decision making.
The successful candidate will:
• Clearly identify intelligence requirements and needs to effectively guide work efforts.
• Work and lead in a team-based environment, collaborating with all levels of the relevant group/category, business unit, offering/solution, cross-unit, customer set or IOT/IMT/Country marketing team, including senior executives.
• Use competitive intelligence skills to advise IBM clients on implications of competitive moves and advise on competitive strategies to counter.
• Demonstrate deep insights into technology areas and trends such as Cloud, Analytics, Social or Mobile.
• Use consultative techniques including primary and secondary research, interviews and fact finding with industry thought leaders, and broad-based data collection and analysis.
• Transform raw data and information into usable strategic knowledge using a high-level of analytical acumen, critical thinking, and oral and written communication skills.
• Employ quantitative skills in finance and portfolio analysis to investigate and evaluate trends, and the viability of business models and investment returns.
• Analyze market opportunities to gauge relative attractiveness of various market segments.
• Identify buyer groups, understand their specific wants and needs, their buying behaviors and selection criteria.
• Analyze IBM performance and share within segments relative to competitors and to the overall industry.
• Keep informed of developments in the broad field of marketing and IT through extensive reading, publishing papers, developing and maintaining contacts in academia, government, and business circles, maintaining membership in trade organizations, and attending industry and professional conferences.
• Exhibit thought leadership and create intellectual capital.
• Use project management skills to drive analysis and consultative goals across organizations.
• Demonstrate strong conceptualization (ability to create figurative models and frameworks) as well as strong communication (oral and written) skills.
