In a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, resilience is no longer measured only by the ability to respond to crises, but by the capacity to maintain direction, attract investment and continue delivering on a long-term vision.

These were some of the key themes explored during "Abu Dhabi: Resilience, Capital and Industrial Transformation", the event hosted some weeks ago at the Hub for Made in Italy in Abu Dhabi. The discussion brought together institutions, investors and business leaders to reflect on the economic model that is shaping the Emirate’s next phase of growth.

Industrial transformation, strategic capital allocation and institutional coordination emerged as central factors in reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s competitiveness. Its response during a period of heightened regional tensions also highlighted the strength of an ecosystem built on stability, planning and confidence.

Building on that conversation, Leo Cisotta, General Manager di Italiacamp EMEA and Massimo Falcioni, Chief Competitiveness Officer at the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), offer two complementary perspectives on the factors driving Abu Dhabi’s resilience and on the opportunities this evolving environment creates for international businesses, including Italian companies looking to strengthen their presence in the region.

The Hub for Made in Italy in Abu Dhabi recently hosted "Growing Forward – An Italy–UAE Dialogue on the Future of Food in the Emirates", a private strategic working session organized in partnership with Elevion.

The initiative brought together leaders from Italy's agriculture and agritech ecosystem alongside key UAE stakeholders across food security, innovation, trade and investment to explore shared priorities and identify concrete opportunities for collaboration.

As the UAE continues to strengthen its long-term vision for food security and sustainable agriculture, dialogue between complementary ecosystems becomes increasingly valuable. Italian expertise in agrifood, technology and industrial innovation can play an important role in supporting this transformation.

Creating the conditions for these conversations is part of the mission of the Hubs for Made in Italy: connecting institutions, companies and strategic partners to turn shared priorities into long-term cooperation.

🌐 International growth increasingly requires the ability to combine industrial development, strategic relationships and financial expertise.

For this reason, the Hubs for Made in Italy are expanding the services available to companies through a new partnership with Formula Corporate Finance, supporting cross-border activities – M&A, joint venture and strategic partnerships – between Italy, the Gulf, India and East Africa.

The collaboration works in both directions: helping Italian companies enter new markets while connecting international investors and industrial groups with Italy’s businesses, expertise and growth opportunities.

A further step in strengthening the role of the Hubs as platforms for international growth, bringing together market access, qualified networks and corporate finance capabilities.

🇦🇪 On 10 June, the Hub for Made in Italy in Abu Dhabi hosted the event “Abu Dhabi: Resilience, Capital and Industrial Transformation”, bringing together institutions, companies, investors and international stakeholders, including the Embassy of Italy to the United Arab Emirates, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), SIMEST and Serdal Holding.

The discussion looked beyond current events to examine the structural drivers shaping Abu Dhabi’s development model, including long-term planning, industrial transformation, capital attraction and the ability to foster international partnerships.

Recent developments across the region have further underscored the importance of understanding markets through informed, timely and on-the-ground perspectives.

For companies looking towards the UAE, a strong local presence and a well-established network of relationships are becoming essential to navigate change, make informed decisions and build more effective international growth strategies.

The UAE imports around 85% of the food on its tables.

Behind that number, something else is taking shape: vertical farms, processing lines, an entire food-manufacturing ecosystem being built from the ground up.

Italy has long been present on the shelf, the next chapter is being written on the production line instead.

EU–UAE trade relations are entering a new phase.

The ongoing free trade negotiations reflect the growing role of the UAE as a strategic platform for Europe and for Italian companies looking at the Gulf.

Italy has long been among the European countries most active in building strong economic ties with the UAE. Today, this experience can become a bridge for a broader European dialogue with the region, helping companies read opportunities, sectors and market dynamics with greater clarity.

From the Hubs for Made in Italy in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, we follow this evolution closely, working alongside companies and partners to understand how new trade dynamics can translate into concrete opportunities for growth.
