About us
One of our company’s strongest personality traits is commitment. We are committed to our clients, our team members, our industry and to each other. Commitment is a trait that all the best teams and their members must possess.
Like most facilities and businesses, the recession met us quickly and dramatically in January 2006. Several large projects that were ready to start were cancelled or postponed. Our backlog was decimated within a matter of weeks and our revenue decreased by nearly 50 percent. It was our commitment to each other and our clients that allowed us to stay together while many companies reduced their staff. We know that our committed staff has been the key to our client relationships and our exceptional service. So instead of reducing staff, we found other alternatives to reduce our overhead costs while never sacrificing our commitment to our customers. In fact, we added services and hired new talented people. We strengthened our preconstruction and construction management services. We accelerated our business development efforts because we knew the economy would improve.
As we head into our 5th year, we are confident that the year ahead will be our biggest and best year to date. I am so proud of our entire team. I can’t wait to see the results and the satisfaction of our new and existing clients.
A Passion of Building
The plain fact is we love to build buildings. Maybe it stems from the pleasure of overcoming the intricate challenges of construction. Or the feeling of accomplishment when a project has been successfully completed. But most likely it simply comes from the delight we share with the building's owners and with all the project team members at a job well done.

That passionate energy and aggressive enthusiasm for a construction project begins even before you award it to us. Prior to making a presentation, we analyze every project down to the last detail to ensure that it matches our capabilities. Fact is, ESG Construction will submit a proposal only if we are certain we can do a first-rate job. More importantly, that analysis also allows us to discover potential problems, develop ways to address them in advance and give you a more realistic construction plan. In the end, that means being able to build more efficiently.

It starts with a careful pre-screening of thousands of firms across dozens of building trades to select those with the experience and abilities best suited to your project - at the best price. Then, we carefully supervise their work to ensure quality and monitor manpower to foster efficiency. To us, it's just as if we laid every brick and hammered every nail.

Preconstruction Services Overview
Understanding You and Your Needs
ESG's preconstruction services start by getting to know you and your organization. In order to better understand your construction needs, we first need to understand the "how's" and "why's" that make the function of your organization unique. By committing the time and resources up front when it counts and getting to know "who" you are, we can insure a successful project in the end.
Managing Municipal Approvals
ESG's preconstruction staff has a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the governmental processes required to build your project. Because the "red tape" has become so cumbersome and crosses many design disciplines, ESG has taken a lead role in shepherding projects through the maze. Whether it's planning or zoning, D.O.T. or D.E.P., B.O.C.A., Labor and Industry, or any of the myriads of codes, which have jurisdiction over the project, we've got you covered. By understanding the process we can develop a schedule of milestones and assign tasks. We then monitor the progress and make sure all submissions are done on time. Making sure all approvals have been obtained will insure that construction will start on time and costly changes in design will be eliminated.
Facilitating the Design Team Effort
By taking a proactive approach to constructability, ESG can reduce construction costs and eliminate expensive redesign. A thorough review of the design documents as they develop will help to minimize construction problems and potential delays. We will make recommendations on the feasibility and availability of materials and labor based on "current market" conditions. Finally we will recommend new and innovative construction techniques to streamline the schedule and cut costs.
Timely and Accurate Estimating

During the course of design development, a "rolling" estimate will be maintained to keep the design team aware of the budget at all times. We will prepare formal construction cost estimates for all building and site development costs at the schematic, design development, 30%, 60% and 90% construction document completion levels. At any time during this process, when the design team feels confident that the direction of the final design is established, a Guaranteed Maximum Price can be set. ESG can provide this price with confidence because of our keen market awareness, honed in the public bid arena. Our extensive historical database as well as varied subcontractor input insures that pricing is accurate and current. ESG's professional estimating staff will "take-off" all elements of the project in detail. The estimating staff is fully computerized using a "state-of-the-art" Timberline system. With this system, our historical database, and input from selected subcontractors, pricing is accurate and "market current" from conceptual budget through final pricing.
Recommending Value Engineering and Alternate Building Systems
ESG will identify areas for value engineering study as the design progresses We will estimate the cost of these ideas as well as the cost of alternate building systems to finalize selection prior to preparation of design documents. All systems will be evaluated in a proactive manner reviewing construction feasibility, availability of material, equipment, and labor; and construction scheduling. All this done during the design process to prevent the additional cost of redesign.
Scheduling
ESG will develop a comprehensive project schedule including design, bidding, permitting, and construction phases. This schedule will be updated during the design process and will be reviewed for its impact on the project. This schedule will assist the team in controlling costs for all phases. Scheduling will also identify materials and equipment, which require long delivery times and are critical to the progress of the work so we can develop a strategy for purchasing these items early.
Final Documentation Review
ESG will review all construction documentation to insure its accuracy and that assumptions made during the design development have been included. We will review all plans for technical accuracy and coordination of all disciplines. Complete and comprehensive documentation is the key to obtaining the most competitive pricing the market will bear and will eliminate the potential for change orders.

Bidding and Contract Supervision
ESG will use its extensive 15 subcontractor base to develop a comprehensive list of qualified firms, which match the needs of the project. We will manage the dissemination of all information to insure accurate and complete pricing. We will review all bids for completeness of scope and in accordance with the contract documents. We will prepare all subcontracts and monitor the proper distribution of all contract documentation..

Through experienced leadership and attention to detail, ESG can ensure the success of our clients' objectives and our record of performance proves it. Our project managers and superintendents are given the systems, tools and support needed to enable them to produce higher quality, timely and more cost-efficient results. The most important goal of project management is simply to return value to the project through accelerated construction and innovative planning. The following outlines the basic services provided during the construction phase of the project.
Construction Services
Setting Project Goals
ESG's project manager will be thoroughly familiar with the project's complexities because of his involvement during the preconstruction phase. Along with the superintendent, he/she will organize a series of preconstruction meetings with the design team and all the subcontractors. These meetings will be used to review the project's organization and lines of authority as well as establish project procedures and rules. More importantly, these meetings will be a forum to convey the preconstruction team's goals and objectives to those people who will be carrying out the work.
Scheduling and Monitoring the Project

Down to the smallest detail. ESG will develop a comprehensive construction schedule outlining all material requirements and construction activities. We will monitor and evaluate the progress of the work making sure that the "critical path" is always maintained. Our superintendent and field staffs are always on site working to expedite production and insure compliance with "ESG Quality Standards". From our project manager to our laborers, our approach is one of "hands-on" leadership" by being involved, making decisions and resolving problems quickly. We set the pace which insures success.
Information and Documentation - Keeping You Informed
ESG maintains a current record of all related documentation both in our office and on site to keep it readily accessible when needed. We conduct weekly construction progress meetings which focus on action items for each of the involved participants. These action items are tracked and managed by the ESG team to insure their completion and control the job's progress. Detailed minutes help everyone involved stay focused on the job and invites input.
Establishing and Monitoring Quality
ESG utilizes its computerized systems to establish and expedite shop drawings and submittals in a timely manner. By personally checking all shop drawings and submittals, we can make the appropriate corrections and ensure proper and timely delivery of materials. ESG will also coordinate the testing of all required materials to meet both municipal and specifications requirements. All of this is done in coordination with ESG's ongoing quality control checks. During every operation, our superintendent checks layout and observes the process to make sure everything "measures up" to the "ESG Construction Standards".
Safety Program
ESG is committed to maintaining the safest job-site possible through our "Star Safety" program. Weekly tool box talks on all job-sites keep safety a top priority for all employees. ESG's Safety Director, along with the Superintendents, monitors all subcontractors for adherence to the safety program.
Job Cost and Accounting
Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date job cost accounting system is a key tool in the effective management of a project. This system allows for early detection of potential problems with a subcontractor or supplier so they may be averted before they occur.
Project Close-Out and Warranty

ESG will produce a detailed schedule of close-out activities. This close-out will start with the development of our own punch list as trades complete their work, not waiting until the very end of the project. We will coordinate and manage the start-up and testing of all mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. ESG will collect and catalogue all operating manuals and assist in the training of owner personnel in the operations and maintenance of all systems. We will assist you in coordinating the occupancy of the facility; working with you to schedule the installation of all furniture and equipment. Finally, we will honor our responsibilities to ensure any and all warranty work is performed in a timely, efficient and non-disruptive manner

EXCAVATION AND MINING
ESG is a leading producer of aggregates, asphalt concrete and other construction materials. Being vertically integrated provides a key competitive advantage, allowing for long-term success and diversity in all markets and construction sectors both commercial and residential. From last one year, our company has done more than just process rock. With over three stationary aggregate plants, one asphalt plant and a ready mix plant ESG along with our affiliates are able to provide construction materials of exceptional quality. This capability in conjunction with our engineering services department provides every customer a product that meets or exceeds required performance standards. From patios to airport runways our concrete operations supply products that will perform for years to come.
To achieve optimum performance, aggregates used for asphalt paving must be crushed and sized to demanding standards that require skill and attention to detail not commonly found in our industry.
Use of recycled materials is a concern for all of our operations as we explore ways to improve our environment and reduce our consumption of limited resources.
As a result of our expertise in construction materials, ESG is active in providing a wide range of construction services to firms in the mining industry.

BRIDGES AND STRUCTURES
The challenge is maintaining or adding bridges and structures at a pace consistent with regional growth trends and capacity needs. ESG provides a full-service approach to designing and renovating highway, pedestrian, and other transportation structures to assist clients in meeting today's travel demands. UNDERGROUND PIPE AND UTILITES
ESG is capable of installing every type of underground pipeline: cast iron, asbestos-cement, concrete: steel and plastic - gas mains; water, sewer and drainage lines; steam distribution above and below ground; telephone and electric cables, including direct burial or multiple concrete encased conduits. As underground utilities and general excavations, have become more complex and critical, ESG has kept ahead to ensure the highest productivity with the maximum cost effectiveness.
