🇪🇺🇪🇪♻️ ESTONIA ENTERS A NEW ERA OF PACKAGING RESPONSIBILITY

With the PPWR now applying across the EU, companies are taking greater responsibility for the packaging they place on the market. 📦🌍

🇪🇪 Why Estonia?
Estonia’s Climate Ministry has published specific guidance clarifying which companies are responsible for packaging and for financing the collection and treatment of packaging waste — from manufacturers and importers to distributors and online retailers.

From 2030, even stricter requirements will follow regarding packaging recyclability and the use of recycled materials. ♻️

💚 For Corsair, this is particularly relevant as we are also developing circular-economy activities in Estonia and see significant potential for advanced recycling of difficult-to-recycle plastics.

♻️ Less waste. 🔄 More circularity. 🌍 More responsibility.

Circularity is no longer just an option — it’s becoming a market requirement. 🚀

🇪🇪 ESTONIA ENTERS A NEW ERA OF PACKAGING RESPONSIBILITY

The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation—PPWR—is now applicable, bringing major changes to how companies are held responsible for packaging waste.

Estonia’s Climate Ministry has published detailed guidance clarifying who is legally considered the “producer” responsible for packaging.

Under PPWR, responsibility generally falls on the company that first places packaging or a packaged product on the market where it is expected to become waste. This may include manufacturers, importers, distributors and online retailers.

The principle is simple: every package should have an identifiable company responsible for financing the collection and treatment of the resulting waste.

And this is only the beginning.

From 2030, packaging across the EU will face mandatory recyclability requirements, while plastic packaging will also need to meet minimum levels of post-consumer recycled content depending on its category.

For Estonia, this creates both an obligation and an opportunity to strengthen collection, sorting, traceability and recycling infrastructure.

As Corsair develops its European circular-economy activities in Estonia, we see significant potential to help keep plastic resources within Europe and return difficult plastic waste to productive use through advanced recycling.

♻️ Circularity is no longer optional. It is becoming a market requirement.

🇪🇺♻️ PPWR IS HERE — THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW!

Today, 12 August 2026, the EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) begins to apply.

The message is clear: less waste, better recycling, more circularity and greater responsibility. 🌍

💚 At Corsair, we’re already turning responsibility into action — transforming difficult-to-recycle plastic waste into valuable circular raw materials.

🔗 CSR Plastic Credits take it one step further by making environmental action transparent, verifiable and measurable.

Europe’s packaging reset starts NOW. 🇪🇺💚

♻️ PPWR IS HERE — THE ERA OF LOOKING AWAY IS OVER

Today, 12 August 2026, the European Union’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation—PPWR—begins to apply across the EU.

This is more than another environmental regulation. It marks the beginning of a major shift from voluntary promises to binding responsibility.

The PPWR creates a common European framework covering the full life cycle of packaging. It requires businesses to move towards less unnecessary packaging, improved recyclability, increased use of recycled content, stronger reuse systems and greater responsibility for the collection, sorting and recycling of packaging waste. While many of the detailed targets will be introduced in phases, the direction is already unmistakable: companies placing packaging on the European market must prepare, take responsibility and act. Plastic pollution can no longer simply be ignored.

For Corsair, the PPWR confirms exactly why we have been investing in real industrial recycling capacity in Europe.

At our Corsair Finland facility in Kaipola, Jämsä, we are preparing to launch the commercial operations to process "difficult to recycle plastic waste" and transform it into valuable circular raw material for the petrochemical industry. This is the type of real-world infrastructure Europe needs if regulatory targets are to become measurable environmental results—not merely words written in sustainability reports.

Simultaniously, the CSR Plastic Credits provide companies with a transparent and measurable way to support verified plastic-waste recovery and take responsibility beyond their direct operations.

CSR Plastic Credits complement this transition by enabling companies to support verified plastic-waste recovery and take responsibility for plastic beyond their immediate operations and provide an additional way for responsible companies to create measurable environmental impact even beyond the regulatory requirements.

PPWR makes responsibility unavoidable.
Corsair turns responsibility into action.

Europe’s packaging reset starts here.

🇪🇺♻️ Europe is changing the rules – and the transition starts now.

From 12 August 2026, the EU's new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) begins to apply. Products such as tea bags and coffee capsules will now be classified as packaging, with further sustainability and waste-management requirements to follow.

To me, this is another clear signal of where Europe is heading: less waste, greater responsibility, better recycling and a stronger circular economy. 🌍♻️

💚 That's why I'm even more proud to be part of the Corsair journey. We believe plastic shouldn't simply become waste – wherever possible, it should be recovered and brought back into the circular economy.

Change is no longer something that's coming. It's happening now. 🚀♻️

♻️🇪🇺 Europe Can No Longer Export Its Plastic Waste. The Future Must Be Built at Home.

For decades, Europe exported millions of tonnes of plastic waste. But that is about to change.

🚢 From 21 November 2026, the EU will ban exports of plastic waste to non-OECD countries and introduce much stricter controls on exports to OECD countries.

This creates a huge opportunity for:
♻️ Better recycling infrastructure
🏭 Advanced recycling technologies
🔄 A stronger circular economy within Europe

💚 At Corsair, we believe plastic waste is not a problem to export—it is a valuable resource to recover. Through advanced recycling technologies, we are helping build the circular future Europe needs.

The transition has already begun... and Europe is ready to keep plastic waste where it belongs—in the circular economy. 🌍♻️

♻️🇪🇺 The Future of Plastic Waste Is Circular

The European Union is preparing new rules that could make burning plastic waste more expensive by bringing waste incineration into the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS). 🌍

This marks a major shift toward:
♻️ Better waste separation
🏭 Advanced recycling technologies
🔄 A stronger circular economy
🌱 More sustainable resource recovery

At Corsair, we believe plastic should not be burned—it should be recovered, recycled, and transformed into valuable raw materials such as high-quality pyrolysis oil. ⛽♻️

The transition has already begun… and the future belongs to circular solutions. 🚀🌍

🇪🇺♻️ Europe Is Changing the Rules. The Future of Plastic Recycling Starts Now.

The European Union is taking a major step toward a stronger circular economy.

From November 2026, the export of plastic waste to non-OECD countries will be banned. This means Europe will increasingly need to recycle its own plastic waste and transform it into valuable raw materials. 🌍♻️

💚 I’m proud to be part of the Corsair journey, where our technology is helping drive this transformation.

At Corsair, we convert plastic waste into high-quality pyrolysis oil, helping to:
♻️ Keep plastic waste in Europe,
🏭 Create valuable circular raw materials,
🌱 Strengthen the European recycling industry,
🚀 Reduce dependence on virgin fossil resources.

I truly believe the future is not about exporting waste, but about responsibly transforming it into valuable resources.

The circular economy is no longer just a vision—it is becoming Europe’s new reality. And I’m excited to be part of this journey. 🌍💚
