TRAMLINK BERNMOBIL wins the Red Dot Design Award!
We are very pleased to announce that the TRAMLINK Bernmobil has won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. The award ceremony took place yesterday evening. DÖLLMANN Design + Architektur ZT Gmbh collaborated with Stadler on the design of the vehicle.
Bernmobil ordered 27 TRAMLINK trams from Stadler at the end of 2019 for the Swiss capital. The first tram is being tested on the Bernese tram network since February 2023 and will go into operation this autumn. With 42.5 m long and 2.3 m wide, the accessible trams for Bern offer a large passenger capacity, spacious barrier-free compartments with wide aisles and several multipurpose areas for wheelchairs, carts and luggage.
The jury liked the calm, clear design language of the TRAMLINK, especially the generous front design and the signet-like lines of the window band in the side perspective. The deliberately restrained, timeless design documents the high degree of technical innovation of this new system. Newly developed entrances create clarity and safety for passengers.
