How do you make your customers feel special?

Shout out to the guy who served me at Pasticceria By Orsola today, who not only made me a delicious gluten-free šŸ‹ lemon aroma cannoli but who emerged with it in an elegant box.

So often, being gluten-free can make us feel like we are second class citizens: food isn’t always prepared and presented with the same love (though it is improving).

This simple experience made my day.

Here’s a friendly reminder not to blindly accept everything your large language model helper spits out. šŸ‘€ AI is fast and powerful but best consumed with a side of human brainpower. 🧠

And the winner of Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2026 is… Cloud Dancer. ā˜ļø šŸ’ƒ

It’s basically a ā€œwhiteā€. Think eggshell rather than alabaster – gentle, natural and subtly warm.

You’ll spot it in packaging, interiors, fashion, business branding… even nail polish. It’ll be everywhere, though it might feel more subtle than this year’s Mocha Mousse.

If next year’s pick is Strawberry Cream, they’ll cap off the frozen Neapolitan trifecta!

For the uninitiated, Pantone is the global colour guru. It scans what’s happening across culture, design, business and how we’re collectively feeling, then chooses a colour of the moment. Cool, huh?

In marketing terms, colours have a mood. Warm tones like this tend to feel softer, more human and inviting. Cooler tones tend to feel harder and more aloof. I focus on mood a lot when helping people choose or change their business brand colours.

Are you a Colour of the Year watcher… or a happy trend-dodger?

How do you feel about Cloud Dancer floating into your world next year?

ā€œHonour your goalsā€ - I had this thought when listening to a friend reflect on her year at Tammy's Table Business Community this morning.

I thought it was worth sharing. 😊

Shout-out to the Accidental Marketers who joined my Brand Signals workshop last week. It’s a busy time of year, and two couldn’t make it on the day, so full credit to everyone who managed to carve out time - in person and online - to develop their business and build their strategic marketing know-how.

While I didn’t catch everyone in the photo, including the only guy, I keep these workshops to around 8 to 10 people. It’s what I call the Goldilocks zone – not too big and not too small, creating the right conditions for open discussion, experience sharing and question-asking.

"Tania’s workshop has led to huge insights & clarity on my next direction. I feel like I’ve been rudderless for a long time. Thank you, so valuable!"

Big thanks to everyone who came along and contributed. It was a pleasure working with you.

šŸ‘€ I’m planning a 2026 series. If you'd like to know when the program is live without relying on the algorithm, message me or subscribe to my non-spammy email updates on The Accidental Marketer website.

Brussels sprouts!
If you’re a non-marketer DIYing your small business marketing, the outside world could be looking at you like this. šŸ‘€

I see so many Accidental Marketers a g o n i s e over getting the words jut right, but too many are actually confusing potential customers because they haven’t thought about the overarching signals they want to send.

Join me for an interactive workshop in Mawson Lakes on 27 November, where you’ll learn:

šŸ 7 types of brand signals you could hitch your brand to
šŸ 5 modes (think Semaphore vs Morse code vs emojis)

There are still a few seats left and I promise you, it'll be practical, fun and a genuinely great way to build your marketing strategy muscle.

Event: Marketing Meet – Brand Signals
When: Thursday 27 November, 10 am – 12 pm
Where: Spaces, Mawson Lakes
Cost: $70+GST

Sometimes a little strategic effort can yield the greatest returns.

Sometimes a little strategic effort can yield the greatest returns.

If most of your work is project-based and tailored (šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø), you’ll know the reality of regularly preparing proposals and how time-consuming it can be.

This morning, it took me just an hour to pull together a proposal for a new prospect.

Last month, it took me four.

The difference? A recent overhaul of my template. I made some key changes to improve both the prospect’s experience and my own efficiency:

🟪 Added an index page with hyperlinks to sections (I use PowerPoint so it fits neatly on screen, but it still prints well).

🟪 Built four ā€˜featured’ project pages across different services and industries that I can swap in (like mini case studies).

🟪 Included drag-and-drop text snippets and variations in the notes area of key pages.

🟪 Refreshed the look and feel – cleaned up the layout, oversized headings for clarity and impact, and a general zhuzh.

If you can’t remember the last time you updated your template, need a fresh set of eyes, or want to make the process less time-consuming, I can help you too.
