📢 IMPORTANT LEGISLATION UPDATE: STUDENT VISA REFORMS 🇦🇺

Effective 2 October 2026, major changes apply to Student (subclass 500) and Student Guardian (subclass 590) visas:

❌ NO ONSHORE APPLICATIONS: Most temporary visa holders (including Graduate, Tourist, Working Holiday, and 482 visa holders) can no longer apply for a Student Visa while in Australia. Applications must be lodged offshore.

✅ ONSHORE EXEMPTIONS: Current Student visa holders can generally only apply onshore if progressing to a higher AQF level (e.g., Bachelor to Master), studying PhD/School courses, or under specific exemptions.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 DEPENDANT RESTRICTIONS: Family members cannot be added to a Student visa after it has been granted. Dependants can only be included at the time of application if an exemption applies.
