Having recently moved house, today I put the charm offensive on my new neighbours by going to each unit, introducing myself, gifting some freshly baked treats, and (as they are all part of my target market for Walking Stick Self Defence) a flyer telling people what I do.
Injecting yourself into a new neighbourhood means people come to know you. Approached the right way, people will even talk about you. And remember, as Oscar Wilde said, "if there's one thing worse than being talked about, it's not being talked about".

Our society, capitalist society, is built upon purchasing the next "big thing". Many of these things are wants, not needs. And yet, despite these things being non-essential, many people work too hard or make themselves unhappy questing after the new car, new sound system or whatever. Why?
Those of us who live in developed nations are in the top 10% of global incomes. If you have a roof over your head, food in your belly, and enjoy societal freedoms, then you've won the global lottery.
So, next time you're feeling unhappy about something, ask yourself: is it a want, or a need?

What a privilege it is to walk this path.

To be tired from work we once prayed for.
To feel stretched by growth we once dreamed of.
