That’s when it hit me, we’re all becoming the problem we fear.
Three years ago, I left my business believing my consulting expertise creating thought leadership brands would always hold value. Now AI can do what I spent decades mastering. My friend’s music? Generated in seconds. Designers, coders, photographers, all watching their craft get automated.
None of it’s surprising. We’ve heard this story before.
But ripping bamboo from my garden taught me something: it grew back in days. Not because it was rigid, but because it stayed rooted while bending through every storm.
It’s tempting to treat reskilling like a software update, download a new skill, install, repeat. But Goldman Sachs says 300 million jobs will transform by 2030. Half our work skills will be obsolete by 2027.
The answer isn’t to learn faster. It’s to remember that purpose isn’t your title or your toolkit, it’s your living code. Like DNA, it evolves while preserving what makes you, you.
Skills will change. Roles will vanish. But your humanity won’t, and that’s what keeps progress tethered to its true purpose: to serve life.
