In the wise word of Jess - it’s the Christmas quarter! School holidays, Halloween, Black Friday and Christmas OH MY!
If you haven’t noticed from our impressively inconsistent posting schedule - the wind up to this year has not slowed down, it’s actually getting busier. But, we be remiss if we didn’t put out the yearly reminders that;
1. IRL effects only results. People get busier, engagement drops, sales are easier and content goes wild. Embrace it.
2. Burning yourself out is always a bad idea, do what you reasonably can, and be proud of your consistency, not the quantity.
3. Online emergencies are largely fiction - there is nothing that can’t be sorted Monday morning.

Good luck out there 🫡

Just showing off some of our work, and look, ain't nothing humble about getting to spend time in Byron shooting food like this with a backdrop like North Byron Hotel.

But while we're here, lets talk about stills/static images. They are so much harder than video now. A static image has about half a second to earn a stop, where a reel gets the benefit of motion, sound and a hook. Which means a nice lil pic doesn't cut it anymore. Nice gets scrolled straight past.

So we go one of two ways.

Either the image is genuinely stunning and a bit more interesting than the standard overhead of a plate, the kind of frame that makes someone slow down without knowing why. Or we go the other direction entirely and get visceral. Messy eating, hands in it, sauce everywhere (extra points for on face or down a white shirt), the shot you can almost taste. Staff shots do it too, because faces stop people in a way that food never quite does on its own.
And then we don't leave them to fend for themselves. Stills get sandwiched between reels and your higher performing content, so they're landing on an audience that's already warm rather than trying to win the fight on their own.

A beautiful photo is not a strategy, but where you put it and why, is.

We’re going to hold your hand when we say this (for our sake, FYI), but the video you might execute flawlessly can easily be outperformed by the on the fly stuff shot on an iPhone.
It’s a thing, but it’s absolutely not random. Because the hero video, lit properly, colour graded, shot on the good lens, has a job. And that job is your grid, your website, your ads, the stuff that has to look like a business worth trusting. But it is not what earns reach, and venues get into trouble when they expect one thing to do both.
But the other stuff? That’s where you get to nail the ‘social’ part of social media. The BTS, the Friday night fails, the staff meals being invented. It is all about the human connection.
It’s easy to think taking it seriously means you have to take it seriously.
But you don’t. You can lock in on your strategy without locking out what makes your business *you*.
Promise.

🙋🏼‍♀️ Marketing agency doing s**tty job of their own content - it's a whole documented condition, I swear.
But while our feed was collecting dust, we:
- Launched an international franchise brand (Bubba Gump, we still can't quite believe it either)
- Squeezed in 17 extra shoots which is roughly 17 more than the calendar said was possible
- Pulled $136K in conversion value off $6K of ad spend
- $32K out of email
- Racked up enough flights that the Qantas app is fighting IG for screen time winner on my phone.

Anyway… if you want results like these without the four month radio silence, that part we're actually very good at.

Ok things we do absolutely judge you for and we are woman enough to admit it:
* You have all your accounts linked in the accounts centre on IG
* You reuse the same pic from 2016 for the same promo that has been running since 2016.
* You post the same flyer to stories everyday
* You run a giveaway that requires tagging 3 friends, sharing to stories, following 4 accounts, and a blood sample
* You post Reels with the TikTok watermark still on them. Instagram told us they suppress these. Publicly. In writing.
* You have an auto-DM that says “Thanks for the follow! Check out our website 😍” spam flag, instant unfollow, and everyone hates you.

📣 WE’RE HIRING 📣
JOOS Digital is looking for a Junior Content & Social Media Assistant to join our team!

This is a casual role to start, with the opportunity to grow into a permanent part-time or full-time position for the right person.

You’ll work alongside our team creating content, assisting on photoshoots, creating and scheduling social media posts, writing captions, keeping up to date on TikTok & Reel trends, supporting our Account Managers and more.
No two days are the same, and that’s exactly how we like it.

We’re looking for someone who is:
✔️ Creative and organised
✔️ Obsessed with social media & up to date with the trends
✔️ Comfortable behind (and occasionally in front of) the camera
✔️ Happy to travel around the Sunshine Coast, to Brisbane and the join in on road trips further south or inter-state for client shoots to capture iPhone content / social media videos
✔️ Eager to learn and build a career in marketing

Experience is a bonus, but attitude is way more important to us. We’d much rather find someone who’s enthusiastic, reliable and excited to learn than someone who already knows it all.

Send your resume, a little bit about yourself and any examples of your work (if you have them) to [email protected]

We can’t wait to meet you. 👏

Just a DIL of a Social Media Manager 🫶🏼

Dear diary…
Went a little deeper on our round 2 confessions but hey, at least you know we are being honest.

TLDR; You biz worries us, we think stuff is cringe too but we still do it because that’s baseball baby, Meta makes us sad when it comes to what they allow on their platform when it comes to be safe & inclusive 🏳️‍🌈 and finally sometimes practice doesn’t make perfect and you really aren’t ever going to be great on camera. But do it anyway.

Went to do a May recap and realised it’s the end on June - oop!

So here is what we’ve been doing *lately* because who needs labels like dates, and months to define anything? We don’t.
We’ve been on our digital marketing s**t in a real big way, 7 new clients spanning across Australia and the US, work trips, a rebrand, ads, websites and even the chance to do a quick team shoot as well. Was it easy? Absolutely not. Are we tired? 😴 Did Jessie get married and go on honey moon in the middle of all of this? You know it. Are we still standing and ready to take on the next half of 2026? *Insert crying gif here* sure. Send more coffee tho.

It’s not weird if it works.
Yeah, it might feel cringe. Yeah, people might look. Yeah, you totally might need to let the ego leave your body a little bit, but we’ve been working in social media since hashtags were useful (15+ years over here), and the most consistent way to get nothing out of it is to never try anything new.
But what does that actually mean, because shouldn’t we be consistent when it comes to showing up online? Stick to core messaging? Not jump on every trend? Yes to all of that.
Don’t change your message or values, change your delivery. Change your medium. Change the backdrop.

For us, that looks like delivering more of our content on YouTube lately, less on TikTok. Our longer carousels are doing things to people so we’re working more of those in, and when we talk directly to our audience via video, it hits harder. Our message is still the same as it always was, we’re just delivering it better.
