⚠️ Heads up, Queensland property owners: AFAC's spring bushfire outlook has almost the whole country — every state except the ACT — facing increased fire risk this season.
Dry soils, a strong El Niño, and built-up vegetation from recent seasons mean it's worth getting your property ready now, before the heat really sets in.
And you don't need to be near the fire front to be affected. Smoke can travel hundreds of kilometres and work its way into homes through gaps around doors, windows and vents. A few simple steps now make a big difference:
✅ Seal gaps and check door and window seals
✅ Stock MERV 13 air-con filters if your system can take them
✅ Plan a "cleaner air room" with a HEPA air cleaner
✅ Photograph your home and contents while everything is intact
