Supporting people with a Mental Health diagnosis requires empathy, understanding, tact, dedication and a belief that your client is going to have many improvements in their lives. That belief will seed inside your client and grow inside them.
Then everything we have learned during our studies is the next level of support.
Every small improvement in our clients life is a victory. Cycles of behaviour can slowly change. Self-esteem and self worth can return if these have been put to the side. One good day is equal to twenty bad days.
The right balance of medication (if required), community inclusion and involvement, trying to finding things that clients are good at or can participate in can go a long way to management or recovery and a more meaningful existence.
