Sunday's online auction delivered. Very strong clearance rate, strong bidding right across the board, and some serious results that prove bottle collecting is alive and well.

The standout was the James Dickson, Leith goldfields era thistle whisky — one of the finest examples ever found, which sold for $21,080 (inc. buyer's premium). That's what happens when quality material hits the market.

Record prices across multiple categories. Competitive bidding from collectors nationwide and internationally, with strong interest from the UK, USA and NZ. Some great buys for those who participated.

Lot 327 - James Dickson, Leith goldfields era whisky bottle. Incredibly embossed and in magnificent 'as found' condition, never buried. Dating from the 1850s/60s, this is arguably one of the finest examples ever found - a genuine stunner, not only for its sparkling mint condition, but also its striking deep aqua green colour.

Estimated at $5,000 – $6,000 and already smashed through it - 21 pre-bids have driven this rare bottle to $8,000 at this stage.

The late Brian Smith’s collection includes an amazing range of jars, with many rare examples seldom seen on the market. His entire collection will be sold totally unreserved this Sunday. Highlights include Allan & Stark from Toowoomba, along with iconic Australian names such as Unicorn, Kangaroo and Dingo.

Also featured is Lot 243 – a rare variation of the Columbia fruit jar, a standout piece that will attract strong interest from collectors.

Pre-bidding is now open! This rare advertising water jug will feature in our Major Online Antique Bottle and Stoneware Auction, closing Sunday, 26th April from 1:00 PM AEST.

Made in England circa 1900 for Brisbane cordial manufacturer Owen Gardner & Sons, this exceptional piece is a wonderful example of early Australian trade advertising ware.

Owen Gardner was a prominent aerated water manufacturer in Brisbane from the 1850s. He eventually partnered with Thomas Tristram, operating out of their South Brisbane factory. The partnership ended badly, and following Gardner’s death in 1888, his sons carried the family name forward. That legacy endured well into the 20th century, giving rise to one of Australia’s most recognisable soft drink brands - Kirk’s.

Advertising water jugs made for Australian aerated water manufacturers are rare survivors, and this example is in superb condition. Lot 478 - presale estimate $3,000 to $3,500.

🍾 KYNETON'S MONSTER - Australia's Only Known 30oz Crown Seal.

From Kyneton in Victoria, this extraordinary bottle is believed to be the only Crown Seal bottle produced in Australia in the large 30oz size - a true monster. The comparison here with the two 26oz variations says it all.

This stunning Victorian toothpaste pot lid had a presale estimate of $15,000 to $20,000. With a strong promotional campaign and worldwide interest, it achieved a world record price for an Australian pot lid of $41,940, including buyer’s premium.

Our latest Online Antique Bottle & Stoneware Auction offered something for all collectors and budgets – there were also some good buys for those participating.
