A great evening celebrating the next generation of planners at the QUT Planning Students Assoc. Awards of Excellence.

Place was proud to support this year’s Awards as a sponsor and judging partner, with our team having the opportunity to review the Thesis Part B submissions and present the awards on the night.

The calibre of work across the category made for some difficult judging, with the submissions tackling complex and highly relevant issues facing our cities, communities and planning systems.

It was a pleasure to recognise their work alongside so many talented emerging planners, and to continue supporting QUTPSA and the future of the profession.

A special recognition for a very special place.

Girraween National Park Visitor Precinct has won an Award in the Tourism category at the 2026 AILA Qld Awards.

Set within one of Queensland’s most distinctive natural landscapes, the precinct was designed to feel intrinsic to Girraween. Drawing from the park’s iconic granite formations, endemic flora and rich cultural narratives, the landscape response creates a more accessible and engaging visitor experience while allowing the natural setting to remain the hero.

Working alongside Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, Lightbox Architecture & Interiors and the broader project team, including engagement with the Kambuwal Aboriginal Corporation for Culture, Heritage and Land, the project reflects a deeply collaborative approach to place.

After 14 months of collaboration with Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ), it was great to be in Rosslyn Bay, engaging with the community as the Rosslyn Bay State Boat Harbour Master Plan enters its final stages.

Throughout the project, we’ve worked alongside MSQ, stakeholders, local businesses, harbour users and the broader community to develop a long-term vision for one of Queensland’s most significant coastal destinations.

From understanding current challenges to exploring opportunities for future growth, connectivity, recreation, tourism and harbour operations, the process has been informed by the people who know and use Rosslyn Bay.

The strong turnout and engagement at the recent consultation sessions reinforced just how important the harbour is to the region and the community it serves.

We are proud to have supported MSQ throughout this journey and look forward to seeing the final master plan guide the precinct’s future for years to come.

A little friendly competition, a lot of generosity and an industry coming together for a cause that matters.

The Property Industry Foundation’s Trivia Night raised $39,530 to support safe and stable accommodation for young Queenslanders experiencing homelessness.

Our Place team got involved from all angles this year, supporting the night as an Event Partner, volunteering behind the scenes and, of course, putting our trivia knowledge to the test.

Beyond the competition, the night was a great example of the impact our industry can have when it rallies around a shared purpose.

A fantastic result for an important cause. Well done to PIF and everyone who helped make it happen.

The Place team recently got behind the Property Industry Foundation Pedal for Homeless Youth, with four of our team taking on the cycling challenge and three volunteering their time to support the cause.

The event saw more than 245 riders from 23 companies across Queensland’s property and construction industry, all pedalling towards one shared goal: helping provide safe and secure homes for young people experiencing homelessness.

Shout-out to all the riders, volunteers and the PIF team behind the event. We are glad to have played a part in supporting an initiative creating meaningful change for young Queenslanders.

Celebrating 75 years of planning, connection and impact.

Place Director Amanda Taylor this week joined an accomplished panel of planning professionals at PIA75: Then. Now. Next., marking 75 years of Planning Institute Australia.

The conversation moved through the panel’s own journeys in the profession, the lessons that stuck with them and where they see planning heading next.

Place Design Group would like to congratulation PIA on this incredible milestone.

The event marked an important opportunity to celebrate people in planning and the ideas and connections that have shaped this profession and paved the way forward.

Place Design Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Tamara Wiseman as Principal. Based in the GCC for the past 13 years, Tamara will continue to lead the delivery of the Ras Al Khaimah project from the UAE and drive new opportunities across the region.

Tamara brings over 21 years’ experience delivering master plans, urban strategy and policy projects across the Middle East and Australia, with expertise spanning strategic planning, policy and governance, master planning and land use planning, project management and urban design guidelines. She is passionate about helping clients achieve positive and forward-thinking outcomes in changing and challenging environments.

Tamara will be working closely with our in-region partners and clients, and we encourage our network to reach out if you are visiting the UAE.
