Our Dive In® approach to skills considered to be more “difficult” during the learning phase is different.
Somatic exercises begin on land, where we teach a different way to process sensations. Once this practice is taken underwater, divers experience improved progress, presence, and have a more meaningful experience overall.

Are Dive In® retreats just elaborate “Refresher Courses”?
A refresher helps you remember HOW to dive. Our retreats help you discover a different WAY of diving.

A Refresher Course restores diving competence:
Our retreats deepen your relationship with diving.

Dive In® meets you where you are:
Refresh, learn to dive for the first dive, or simply experience diving differently.
Everyone learns differently: some of us like jumping right in, others prefer to settle in with observation, and how we learn may change depending on the skill.

More than just refreshing, more than just diving:
Develop foundational practices that make every dive, and every day, more meaningful.

Scuba diving is considered a “highly perishable” skillset. Without regular upkeep, skill (and confidence) fades quickly. We believe the foundational tools created with Dive In® not only improve skill retention, but presence and enjoyment of your lifestyle overall.

Not everyone can dive all the time, but many of our courses can be practiced online without ever having to put a wetsuit on (Link in Story) 📲👀🤿

We’ve spent years combining backgrounds from credentialed fields to bring an entirely new experience above and below the water. Dive In® isn’t just about scuba diving in a more meaningful way, it’s about improving your everyday life, too. 🩵🤿🩵🧘

Why are scuba courses so “rushed?”
Most scuba courses focus on skill performance, which facilitates a tick-box mentality: tick, done.
Great teaching is about meeting students where they are (not getting everyone through the same checklist), high instructor/student ratios get in the way of that.

Few students leave their OW course feeling confident, here’s why:
An Open Water course teaches the essential skills to begin diving. Capabilities develop through practice and experience.
Focusing on “presence” rather than “performance” facilitates awareness of experience so that divers learn more effectively
Learning begins (not ends) at certification: the most capable divers are those who continue practicing, reflecting and growing long after their course ends.

Adapting to the Individual:
Everyone learns differently: some of us like jumping right in, others prefer to settle in with observation, and how we learn may change depending on the skill.

Reflecting Sessions & Debriefings:
Reflection is an essential part of learning. It not only builds awareness of what went well in each dive and what we could do better, but also deepens our understanding of how we learn best.
In short, reflection is part of learning: noticing what went well and what felt challenging helps turn experience into growth.

Mask clearing is a super common roadblock for many, but it doesn’t have to be. Practicing our Dive In®️framework can take place with instruction, on retreats, or even with our online courses 👌🤿

13/08/2026

Most divers have experienced this scenario at some point. We want a friend or loved one to share this world with us, they try, and then quit or say they hated it. This is almost always preventable (and still salvageable), and the reason we developed the Dive In® framework. 🤿🧘

09/08/2026

“Presence over performance” is at the core of our Dive In® Framework. Divers report noticing so much more underwater, simply by slowing down and being more present with themselves and the environment. It can sometimes even be more rewarding finding things that were often missed, even if the “big, fancy” wildlife never shows up 🐠🫶 🧘

09/08/2026

While divers should absolutely be in the habit of avoiding contact with the bottom, not all areas (such as certain sandy bottoms) are adversely affected. Just like walking barefoot in the grass, there are places where it can be done responsibly while practicing the Dive In® Framework. 🪸🐠🫶
