SMS Risk Consultancy is proud to announce our newest Director and Principal Consultant, Darren Newell.
Darren joins SMS with over 12 years’ experience in the construction industry, including time on the tools, progression into project leadership roles, and extensive capability across Health, Safety, Environment and Quality.
He brings a strong technical and professional foundation, holding a Diploma of Work Health and Safety, a Bachelor of Journalism, and Lead Auditor accreditation across Safety, Environment and Quality systems.
Darren’s background spans Tier 1 and Tier 2 builders, with experience across commercial, industrial, residential and major infrastructure projects, giving him a practical understanding of how risk is managed on the ground and at a strategic level.
This combination of hands‑on construction experience, formal qualifications and auditing expertise strengthens SMS’s ability to support clients with genuine end‑to‑end risk leadership.
With the year already off to a fast and busy start, we’re excited to have Darren on board and driving our continued growth.
