The gender pay gap is real. It's $28,356 a year real. 💸

And yes, closing it takes systemic change. Full stop.
But while we keep pushing for that? Your performance review still happens this year.

In 2024, for every 100 men promoted, only 81 women were.
Self-advocacy won't fix the whole system. But it can change your outcome in this conversation.

Last week I had the privilege of being part of the BGCCI International Women’s Day event, centred around the theme Balance the Scales.

The conversations in the room were honest, at times heavy, and incredibly important.

We spoke about the inequities women still face, domestic violence, workplace harassment, cultural blindness, access to opportunity, and the very real work still required if we want to move the scales toward balance.

These aren’t always comfortable conversations to have publicly, but they are necessary ones.

Thank you to Charlotte Stuart and the team Bunbury Geographe Chamber of Commerce and Industry for creating space for these discussions in our region.

And a huge thank you to the incredible panel who shared their experiences, insight and advocacy so openly:

For me personally, facilitating the panel pushed me outside my comfort zone. Public speaking has never been my natural space, but this was a conversation I care deeply about, and one worth being brave for.

Important conversations create awareness.

Awareness creates change.

And change is how we start to balance the scales.
