This week I travelled to Napranum and Weipa with Olivia from The Indigenous Marathon Foundation for a pre event visit and a series of meetings with community members and key stakeholders as we build toward the 2026 IMF Running and Walking Championships in Napranum, Cape York QLD.

It was a really grounding few days connecting with community and I am genuinely overwhelmed by the support and excitement for what is ahead. The energy for this event is already so strong and it's clear how much pride there is locally.

In July, we are looking forward to welcoming around 80 participants from 12 communities across Australia for the this national event. It is going to be a powerful few days of connection, movement and shared experience.

We also had the bonus of catching some incredible sunsets and moon rises over Napranum and Weipa that were just stunning.

Feeling grateful and excited for what is coming next.

I’m now accredited in DISC Coaching and honestly, it explains so much.

DISC is a simple but powerful tool that breaks down behaviour into four styles - Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness - and helps you understand how you (and others) communicate, respond and show up at work.

I’m an SC style = Steadiness and Conscientiousness
which basically means I’m calm, people focused and consistent, but also love a good plan, clear structure and getting things right. I’m the person who will support you, keep things steady and help make sense of the moving parts.

It’s also exactly why I love using DISC with managers and teams because once you understand each other better, everything shifts communication improves, tension drops and teamwork just flows better.

Big week ahead for Púuna - they will be delivering 5 days of workshops at the Sydney Opera House from 11-15 April, showcasing their Carers as First Curators workshop series. This powerful work centres families, culture and creative practice, creating space for stories, connection and intergenerational knowledge to lead.

Púuna is a Community Arts and Cultural Development practice working at the intersection of art, family life and cultural knowledge. I really love working with Lia and deeply value the gentle and nurturing way their programs and events are created and delivered. There is such care, intention and authenticity in everything they do.
