💙 Honouring our fathers, uncles, grandfathers, athes, and all father-figures.

This Sunday is Father’s Day, and we’re celebrating the men who guide, protect, and love their families and communities. We recognise the strength and guidance that fathers provide, and how their influence helps us build stronger, safer, and more connected communities.

If you or a loved one needs culturally safe and supportive care, we’re here to yarn.

The past three days on Kaurna Country in Adelaide have been something special.

I was honoured to facilitate the Indigenous Business Australia Galambany Indigenous Staff Network Conference 2025, where staff from across Australia came together with great participation to shape Galambany’s 2026–2028 strategy.

We were grounded by the safe passage given on Kaurna Country, inspired by our Chair Mr Darren Godwell and new CEO David Knights, and strengthened through powerful yarning circles that created safe spaces to connect, share and listen.

Proud to walk alongside such passionate and committed IBA staff — the future looks strong. 🙌🏽

🔥Garma Festival 2025 Partnership 🔥

Northern Cape Island Enterprises Pty Ltd was honoured to partner with PwC Australia at this year’s Garma Festival, held on Gumatj Country at Gulkula, Arnhem Land.

We express our sincere gratitude to the PwC team for warmly welcoming us into this important partnership. Garma 2025 was not only a strategic opportunity to walk alongside one of Australia’s largest professional services firms, but also a culturally rich and transformative experience.

The festival featured impactful campfire yarns, thought-provoking forum discussions, and powerful performances of Yolŋu music, dance, art, and craft. These experiences reaffirmed the strength of Indigenous knowledge systems and the importance of cultural exchange as a foundation for reconciliation and shared futures.

We were especially proud to witness and support the launch of the Fire Carriers — a national youth-led movement driven by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young leaders. This initiative calls for lasting structural change, informed by listening to grassroots voices and led by culture, community, and strategy.

One powerful message shared:
“We are not only your future. We are your now.”

The symbolic message stick, carrying the thumbprints of young leaders and the Prime Minister, was a reminder of the responsibility we all share in listening deeply and walking together with integrity.

At Northern Cape Island Enterprises, we believe in partnerships that are values-driven, culturally respectful, and future-focused. Garma provided the perfect setting to reflect, connect, and commit to meaningful action.

We look forward to building on this foundation with PwC and others in the months ahead.

With respect and love,
Ben Mitchell

Did you know NAIDOC Week has been celebrated for 50 years?

What began as a day of protest has grown into a powerful national movement of pride, truth-telling and celebration. This year, we honour “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” - spotlighting the leaders, change makers and culture-carriers of tomorrow.

At NCIE, we continue to walk beside our communities, investing in Indigenous-led innovation and supporting future generations to thrive.

✨ Here’s to 50 years of resilience, and the legacy still to come ✨

Kicking off our Regional Workshops with Mackay Traditional Owners 🌊🌿

Last week, I had the honour of sitting down with Traditional Owners from the Mackay region to begin the first of three regional workshops across Queensland focused on reef and water quality planning.

These yarns come off the back of feedback shared at the recent WQIP meeting in Townsville, and we’ve shifted our approach to reflect what communities have asked for — more time on Country, deeper conversations, and stronger cultural leadership in the process.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue these 2-day sessions in Cairns, Townsville, and Mackay/Rockhampton — listening, learning, and working together.

A big thank you to everyone who made the first workshop so powerful. Your knowledge, guidance and care for Country are what will lead the way forward.

Last week Northern Cape Island Enterprises - NCIE had the privilege of facilitating the 2025 North Queensland Region All Staff Workshop for the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) last week.

It was an inspiring few days bringing teams together from across the region to reflect, reconnect, and plan for the future—especially in the post-Voice Referendum landscape. The theme focused on resilience, unity, and continuing to rise above together for our mob and our work.

Great to hear from local teams during the 10-minute elevator pitches to the CEO, share in regional wins, and dive into the draft Regional Sector Strategy.

Big congratulations Kassmena Chong Kassy Jo for stepping into the Regional Manager role—an exciting new chapter. And a heartfelt farewell to Richard Aspinall, a solid leader and top bloke whose contribution will be missed.

Always proud to walk alongside NIAA in supporting strong First Nations outcomes.
