XXIII Eleven has been engaged by ACT Government to deliver an anti-racism education program to Canberra school students. The Program titled Say No To Racism aims to raise awareness of the importance of mutual respect, fair treatment of all people regardless of their cultural, racial or religious backgrounds and promote the benefits of cultural diversity and social cohesion.
The Program will break down barriers and highlight that racism can affect anyone in the community. It will provide a forum for young people to share their stories and obtain guidance and encouragement from those who have been in similar situations.
Participants in the Program will:
• recognise that racism is unacceptable
• become involved in practical action against racism, wherever it happens
• have a greater understanding and respect of diversity
• have an improved sense of belonging regardless of their background
• engage in mainstream activities, such as sport, to address social isolation
The Say No To Racism program is being supported by the Australian Human Rights Commission, Play by the Rules, ACT Brumbies, Football Federation Australia Centre of Excellence (FFA CoE), Capital Football, Basketball ACT, AFL NSW/ACT and Hockey ACT.
