CEO's and Board Chairs - are you running at full speed already? Is the weight of unfinished business in 2025 now looking for your attention so early in the year?

The beach vibes feel so long ago, but business success - well it's looking for your attention. A good place to start is your organisational strategy because it's the foundation for determining how 2026 pans out.

If it's feeling disjointed, and components aren't lining up (constitution not aligned with your strategy mission and vision) or you're not sure that you've got the right measures to ensure visibility across performance and conformance, now might be a good time to spend some time on it.

Don't just brush the dust off it, really analyse the strategy - look for alignment and connection, is it still relevant against any environmental shifts, do the priority areas need adjustment, have you been able to implement the action plan? Lots to think about, unpack and discuss to make the strategy serve the organisation well throughout 2026.

Do you have a question about your strategy and how it supports your organisation and enables the Board?

The last stretch of the year has a way of prompting honest reflection. But will 2026 look any different to 2025?

When you look back at the pace you kept, the challenges you carried, and the moments that shifted how you lead - how do you feel? What did you learn, and what do you want from 2026?

A new role. A promotion. A steadier way of leading. Or a plan to tackle patterns that held you back this year. Or do you need a new role, new organisation or a complete career change?

Now is a good time to start unpacking the challenges and opportunities and creating an actionable plan to get you where you're wanting to be. A practical clear approach that won't get shelved when the year gets busy again.

I’m opening a small number of places for people who want support to shape their 2026 career plan. We work through your goals, the practical steps to get there, and the behaviours that will carry you forward.

Beyond the plan, you’ll have ongoing support and accountability as you turn it into steady progress throughout 2026.

If this sounds like the direction you need to take, send me a message and we can talk through how we can work together and what support might look like for you.

Still running on last year’s plan?

It’s September.
By now your strategy should be locked in, your team’s performance plans in place, and priorities clear.
But if you’re still:

~ Burning the candle at both ends
~ Juggling strategy that isn’t finalised
~ Managing staff who don’t know what to aim for

…then you’re carrying more than you need to.

Maybe, it's time to reach out for advice and assistance to get it done. You don’t have to do it all. At Verity Strategic, I partner with leaders who need someone to take the load off.

This could look like shaping strategy, aligning people, providing trust advice on people management and leadership, reviewing a project/strategy or proposal, and partner with you to make sure you hit those targets - with people (including yourself) intact.

You don’t need another 60-hour week. You need someone with the expertise and experience to work with you and help make progress on the things that matter.

If that’s where you’re at, it’s time we had a conversation.

Every organisation hits moments where progress stalls, decisions pile up, and delivery feels harder than it should.

What problems do we solve?
We help when strategy needs a refresh, when business cases must stand up to scrutiny, when leaders need support to navigate complexity, or when projects drift off course. Our work ensures clarity of direction, stronger leadership, and results to turn issues around and set you up for success.

Where are we located?
Based in Canberra, we work with leaders and organisations across Australia - with a particular depth of knowledge in the public sector.

How can we work together?
Directly engage us for strategic reviews, operating model alignment, business case development, leadership support, strategy development and implementation, or project and program review. Whether it’s a single workshop, a leadership mentoring session, or a longer partnership, we step in where you need in a way that works for you.

At Verity Strategic, we don’t just design solutions, we partner with you to deliver.

Public sector pressures are real: recruitment freezes, restructures, slashed training budgets. The old model, where you waited for your organisation to invest in you, is gone.

That support isn’t there anymore, and it hasn’t been for a while.

The leaders who will thrive in this environment are the ones who choose to invest in themselves.

They build their leadership strength, sharpen their strategy toolkit, and create clarity for their teams even when the organisation can’t.

Yes, the risks are real. Burnout, underperformance, stalled careers. But the opportunities are even greater.

Leaders who take ownership of their growth don’t just keep up, they stand out. They become the people trusted to navigate uncertainty, influence outcomes, and deliver impact that matters.

If you’re ready to invest in yourself and your leadership, I’d love to help you do it.

At Verity Strategic, I work with leaders who want to grow their capability, expand their influence, and shape the future, not wait for it.

Let’s talk about what that looks like for you.

My eyes forgot to blink. My brain froze. Then my body started to slide off the chair, losing the ability to function.

I’d just heard the unimaginable.

In a conversation about tough decisions, downsizing, stopping projects and choosing what to keep, someone proposed stopping the review and development of the next strategy.

The very thing that enables prioritisation.

The very thing that clarifies where to invest limited time, energy, and resources.

The very thing that paves the path forward.

In difficult times, strategy isn’t a “nice to have.” It’s not a glossy document for the good years. It’s the tool that helps organisations make trade-offs with confidence, keep people aligned, and avoid the paralysis of trying to do everything.

When resources are tight, being clear matters most. And that’s exactly what strategy provides.

Have you ever seen a team push pause on strategy at the exact moment it was needed most? What happened?

______

At Verity Strategic, this is what I do. I help organisations cut through complexity, make the right choices, and keep moving forward even when the path is difficult. If your organisation is facing tough decisions, now is the moment to put strategy at the centre.

If you’re needing to strengthen leadership, pivot your strategic direction, shift culture, or turn a project from red to green, a partnership with Verity Strategic is your next step.

At Verity Strategic, we work with organisations that want more than surface-level fixes.

~ Strategies fail because once they’re finalised, no one takes the action to operationalise and consistently lead delivery to achieve the outcomes.

~ Projects fail because they're not set up for success (forgot about the people, poor governance, inadequate structure and the required level of management, leadership and drive).

~ Cultures become problematic due to poor leadership, communication, lack of strategy and decision making.

At Verity Strategic our approach is to work with you and your teams to get to the bottom of the issues, and together, develop the required corrections, strategies and operating models.

At the end of the engagement we leave you with stronger decisions, a rhythm of delivery, and leaders equipped to sustain progress.

Each situation is unique - starting with a conversation is your first step.

Every extra step, form, or handoff slows things down and increases frustration.

With every unnecessary hurdle, confidence in the service (and the organisation behind it) quietly erodes.

Leaders don’t usually set out to make things hard and complex. It creeps in over time, through layered processes, risk management, compliance requirements, and siloed decision making.

What feels like a safeguard internally, often feels like a barrier externally.

Some things to think about:
* Where have we made things harder than they need to be?
* What would this look like if we designed it from the user’s perspective instead of the organisation’s?
* Where are the duplications?

When we make things simple, we don’t just make services faster and easier to engage with, we build trust. In government, business, and community services, trust is the most valuable currency we have.

The hidden cost of complexity is trust.

Do you have an area you could focus on to remove complexity?

At Verity Strategic, we work with leaders to identify where complexity is costing them results, and redesign services focused on the user experience and the outcome.

The question isn’t “who owns it?”
It’s “how do we deliver the best outcome together?”

When it comes to service transformation, structure should not be the starting point.

Have a look at your current services. Are they designed around departments, reporting lines, or internal processes?
If so, chances are your customers experience complexity, duplication, and frustration.

But what if we took a different approach?

Start with understanding the problem and identify the outcome you want to achieve. Understand the user experience from end to end. Then design the system, roles, and responsibilities around that.
How different would the experience be?

Taking this approach isn’t easy. It requires genuine collaboration across agencies, sectors, and silos. But when we prioritise outcomes and users over structure, we create services that are simpler, more effective, and more sustainable.

What’s been your biggest challenge in shifting from structure-first to an outcome-first service design?

At Verity Strategic, we work with leaders to think differently, reviewing services through the eyes of the people who use them, then partnering to redesign systems that deliver better outcomes. If you’re looking to reimagine your services, let’s talk.
