Grace Occupational Therapy is a member of the Yellow Ukulele consortium advocating for a better future for children with disability. Help us advocate on your behalf by completing the survey. Foundational Supports pathway is on its way & we want to make sure the disability community has a voice.

We’re on a mission to understand better what families truly need and value in foundational support services. Our families' and participants' insights are crucial in guiding our advocacy efforts to ensure future services for children under 9 are going to meet needs.

Please share this poster in your clinics, encourage your clients to fill in the form (it takes about five minutes and is anonymous) and share it with other practices in your area. The more data we can get, the stronger the message.

Our team have recently completed further certification in trauma-sensitive therapy and how we can better support school-aged children and the impact trauma has on their learning and participation. In recent months, the pandemic has significantly affected children so more than ever do we need to be more considerate of how children are coping with the return to school.

More than ever, it is crucial for health professionals to understand how trauma can impact school-aged children. Many children feel the effects of the pandemic and, with all that has happened in recent months, returning to school can be a traumatic experience.

Announcing the arrival of our OT-live online therapy service. It's live with one of our occupational therapists and its online from comfort of your home. We understand that with the recent outbreak of COVID-19, schools closing and a change in workforce dynamics that there is some uncertainty within the community. We also know how important it is to maintain therapy routines and for continuity of care for kids. Contact our office to discuss if OT-live online is a suitable option for your child.

As a provider we are audited against a set of NDIS Practice Standards & I am pleased to advise that we have passed the required quality assurance compliance audit. I would like to extend my gratitude to all involved including an amazing team that works hard each day. Grace Children's Therapy will continue to monitor changes and the effectiveness of processes in relation to providing safe, quality services for participants.

So many factors to consider when we run our SOS approach to feeding program. We look at breaking the barriers and increasing willingness to try new foods, building food familiarity in the home, help to structure a family meal that encourages participation, chaining food through textures, colours & shapes, improving oral-motor skill development, minimising negative food associations, modelling eating without force & providing repeated exposure to increase volume. There's a lot to do in 10 weeks.

Toilet training is an important milestone to achieve and children are typically ready between 2-3 years of age, however a child's physical & emotional readiness needs to be considered before you start the process. Children with disabilities or learning disorders may need additional help & this is where your occupational therapist can help. Your therapist can identify the right equipment, assist with sensory aversions or gravitational avoidance, anxiety & develop the motor skills for success.

People may be at risk of developing anxiety or depression after experiencing a traumatic event or natural disaster like a bushfire, flood, cyclone or earthquake.
