An Asset Protection Zone (APZ) is one of the most effective ways to reduce bushfire risk on a rural property. It’s a managed area of land around homes, sheds, stables and key infrastructure that slows, weakens, and sometimes stops a fire before it can cause serious damage.

How an Asset Protection Zone protects your property

🚨 Urgent Pile Burn Safety Reminder 🚨

Conditions across the valley are becoming increasingly dry, and recent escaped burns are a timely reminder of how quickly a fire can spread.

If you are considering a pile burn, please consider postponing it until conditions improve. Pile burns can remain hot beneath ash and inside logs for days, and wind can cause embers to escape long after a burn appears to be out.

If you do need to burn:

✅ Check the weather forecast and Fire Danger Rating before lighting up.
✅ Keep piles small and manageable — several small piles are safer than one large pile.
✅ Have adequate water, hoses, tools and people available before you start.
✅ Stay with the fire at all times. Never leave it unattended, even for a short break.
✅ Do not leave the property until you are certain the ash bed is cool and the fire is completely out.
✅ Make sure you can call for help if needed.

With the Bush Fire Danger Period approaching, now is not the time to take unnecessary risks. Please help protect our community by putting safety first.
