Let’s talk quality.

Because 3D printing builds parts layer by layer, every print is going to have visible "layer lines." But how visible they are comes down to the settings we use in the workshop.

Here is how we break down our layer heights:

- 0.20mm (Standard/Functional): Great for internal brackets, 4x4 mounts, and large functional prototypes. It gets the job done fast and keeps the cost down.

- 0.16mm (The Sweet Spot): A solid balance of strength, decent speed, and a clean finish.

- 0.12mm (High Quality): Noticeably smoother. Perfect for display pieces, custom desk hardware, or detailed automotive interior trim.

- 0.08mm (Ultra Fine): Butter smooth. The layer lines are barely visible.

The Trade-off: Why not print everything at 0.08mm? Time and cost. If a custom caravan bracket takes 4 hours to print at standard 0.20mm, dropping that to ultra-fine 0.08mm means the machine is running for over 10 hours. More machine time = higher cost for the build.

That’s why we don't just hit "print." We look at what the part actually needs to do and match the resolution to the job, so you get the right finish without paying for machine time you don't need.

Standard off-the-shelf pet doors don’t exactly cater to the height of a rescue greyhound, and the heavy-duty options online are ridiculously overpriced. So we built our own.

This custom dog door insert perfectly shows off how we mix different manufacturing methods in the workshop. We fabricated the main frame out of aluminium to drop seamlessly into the existing sliding door track. For the panels, we cut a thick, durable perspex for the top window, and used a thinner, flexible perspex for the dog flap—making it tough enough to handle the weather, but easy for the dog to push through.

Then we jumped into CAD, designed custom hinges and a locking mechanism, and 3D printed the hardware in high-strength plastic to bring it all together.

The result is a solid, direct-fit solution built specifically for the job—and we managed to do it for about $300 less than the top-ranked online competitor. (And yes, since we build these from scratch, we can custom-size them for any breed, big or small).

A broken handle shouldn't mean a binned mower.

This Ryobi was out of action over a snapped factory plastic part. Instead of throwing out the whole machine or waiting weeks for an expensive spare, we modeled a stronger replacement in CAD and printed a direct-fit upgrade.

Machine saved. Money saved. Back to work.

Another machine back in action thanks to our Print on Demand service! 🖨️🛠️

Recently, a client reached out with a file to replace a broken dust port on their DeWalt Thicknesser. Instead of waiting around for a factory replacement to ship, they sent us the 3D file and we got the printers running.

Printed in high-strength material, this new port is actually much tougher than the original supplied piece. The fit is perfect, the customer is stoked, and the machine is back to making sawdust (without the mess).

Hey everyone! 👋

It has been an absolutely flat-out few weeks in the workshop, and I just wanted to pause and say a massive thank you for all the local support lately!
