The purpose of our Mastermind Meetings is to bring business owners together to connect in person. We will work from a menu of $20 thousand dollar problems every month. This provides plenty of new opportunities to grow your business and build relationships together. The key outcomes that we help members achieve are...

1. Becoming More Profitable

It's fair to say that The Local Business Network

(TLBN) isn't normal networking... many of our members have commented that some of the networking they'd done in the past felt a bit like "speed dating for business owners!". If you've done networking before then you'll know that this isn't a great way to build long term relationships. Poorly structured networking can lead to a "box full of business cards but no relationships". We don't want that to happen to you! Here's what Business Owners are saying about why they joined:

- to get better connected,
- to get new ideas about what others are doing to survive and thrive in my business
- to get new perspectives on what you're currently doing in my business
- to improve my word-of-mouth marketing
- to gain referrals
- to meet like-minded business owners
- to get out of the office
- to make sales
- to find good suppliers
- to create new opportunities. NETWORK MEETING FORMATS

ShowRoom is a Networking Meeting to get better connections between you and other local business owners. Better connections means more Word-of-Mouth Marketing and more referrals from business owners who will all be spotting work for you! BoardRoom is a Mastermind Meeting to generate new ideas and insights for you and your business. Members work together to help each other with their challenges and what’s working, so that you can get your business ahead! ClassRoom Meetings are Business education workshops with the focus on helping you become more profitable. You’ll get a workbook on a key topic and learn the best strategies and an action plan to implement! Who Attends The Network Meetings? They're for Business Owners... the people that make the key decisions in their business. This ensures that every person you meet, every connection, is valuable. Whether you're providing products or services to each other, creating opportunities together, or sharing business ideas... there's unlimited opportunity to tap into the people in the room to help you grow your business. How It Works...

The Network Meetings are regular morning meetings held in the same time-slot each fortnight. Usually 7.00am - 8.30pm on a weekday. The meetings alternate between Showroom, Boardroom and Classroom. This way you are well connected with a range of members across the group.

“We are now in control of the business processes and finances.”

That line means everything.

Because for so many business owners, the hard part is not the work ethic.

You are already working hard.
You are already showing up.
You are already carrying the responsibility.

The hard part is trying to make clear decisions when you cannot fully see what is happening inside the business.

Deb and Greg from GMK Vehicle Safety Certifications have been working with Geoff and I for the past 6 months, and their words stopped me in my tracks:

“What we achieved during this time would have taken us 3 to 5 years on our own.”

That is the power of having the right support, the right conversations, and the right focus.

Not judgement.
Not fluff.
Not more noise.

Just practical business guidance that helps you understand your numbers, strengthen your processes, and lead with more confidence.

Hand on heart, this is why we do what we do.

Because when business owners feel back in control, everything shifts.

02/06/2026

They had a team of five.

But the owners were still the backup plan for everything.

That is where a lot of businesses get stuck.

The team exists.

But the owner still carries the wrong work.

I ran a time audit with a business couple.

They were busy.
They were working hard.
They cared about the business.

But they could not see where the growth work was meant to fit.

So we tracked where their time was actually going.

The result was confronting.

Around 80 to 90 percent of their week was sitting in low-value operational work.

Not bad work.

Just the wrong work for the owners to be holding.

The majority of the work could be done by people already in the business.

Some of it needed a clearer process.

Some of it needed to stop running through the owners completely.

That changed the conversation.

Because now they were not guessing.

They could see the bottleneck.

Try this.

List five tasks you do every week.

Mark the ones your team could already do.

Pick one to move first.

Then write down what “done properly” looks like.

That is how you start freeing owner time.

Not by dumping work on people.

By making the handover clear enough that everything does not keep bouncing back to you.

Busy does not always mean profitable.

And I know that one can sting a little.

Because so many business owners are working hard, showing up, taking the calls, quoting the jobs, serving the customers… but still wondering why the bank account does not reflect the effort.

Often, the issue is not effort.

It is pricing.

Three habits I see all the time:

1. Taking any job just to stay busy
2. Absorbing supplier increases instead of adjusting prices
3. Freezing prices for years because you are worried customers will leave

But here is the truth — if your pricing is not protecting your margin, your business is paying the price.

Sometimes the fix is not a massive overhaul.

Sometimes it is a small, strategic lift.

A 2–3% increase.
A clearer quoting process.
A minimum margin rule.
A decision to stop saying yes to work that costs you more than it makes you.

Action precedes clarity.

Pick one pricing habit to clean up this week and watch what changes.

Because your business does not need you to be busier.

It needs you to be braver, clearer, and more profitable.

Which one do you need to fix first - 1, 2 or 3?

26/05/2026

Your calendar only tells half the story.

It shows meetings.

Calls.
Jobs.
Admin.
Deadlines.
Commitments.

It shows that you are busy.

But it does not show whether the work is worth your time as the owner.

That is the problem.

Low-value work often looks necessary.

It feels productive because it keeps things moving.

But busy is not the same as valuable.

And just because something needs doing does not mean it needs doing by you.

Try this for two days.

Split a page into two columns:

Urgent + Important

Put every task somewhere.

Then look at the pattern.

What keeps dragging you into urgent work?

What important work keeps getting pushed back?

What are you still doing that someone else could handle?

This is where planning starts to get honest.

Because you cannot manage time properly until you can see what is actually filling it.

[FREE WORKSHOP] 21st May @ 1pm for Redland Business Owners

If you keep saying, “I just need more time,” pause.

More time will not fix the wrong work.

If your week is full of admin, operations, delivery, team questions, small problems, and tasks that should not still be yours, then more time is not the solution.

It just gives the wrong work more space.

Most business owners do not need a better calendar.

They need a cleaner view of what is actually sitting inside the calendar.

That is what we are working on in Time Audit workshop next week.

It's for business owners who want to stop guessing where their week goes.

In the room, you will:

1. Audit where your time is going now
2. Identify low-value work that should not be yours
3. Get clear on your high-value owner activities
4. Decide what needs to move off your plate
5. Leave with a clearer way to plan your week

This is not theory.

The work you do in the room will make a real difference to your business the moment you action it.

Here's the details:

When: Thursday, 21st May, 1.00pm to 2.30pm
Where: Unit 38, 20 Masthead Drive, Cleveland

We have only 10 spots available.

This message came through after our last Time Audit workshop, and it says everything.

So many business owners are carrying work that should no longer be theirs.

They are busy, but not always focused.
Needed everywhere, but not always leading from the right place.
Doing more, but not always moving the business forward.

The Time Audit helps you pause, look honestly at your week, and identify what needs to be stopped, delegated, simplified, or prioritised.

Because more hours is not the answer.

Clearer focus is.

Thursday’s Time Audit workshop is for business owners who are ready to get out of the noise and back into the work that matters.

DM me “TIME” for the details.

Geoff and I are proud sponsors of Emajin Golf, and honestly, we just love what Raj has created.

It’s such a unique way to network, getting out on some of Australia’s best private golf courses, meeting great business owners, and having real conversations along the way.

My score may not have been fabulous… but the people absolutely were.

I had the best day with such a great group, including Justin from Genesis Motors, the major sponsor, and Jules Cassidy, pictured here with me.

Days like this are such a good reminder that business is built through relationships and sometimes the best conversations happen well away from the desk.

A fabulous day, great company, and a very good excuse to keep working on my golf game.

Your calendar can be full and still be failing you.

That is the part most business owners do not want to admit.

You are busy.

The phone is busy.

The team needs answers.

Customers need things.

Jobs need finishing.

Admin keeps appearing.

So the week feels productive.

But then Friday comes around and the important work is still sitting there.

The growth work.

The planning work.

The leadership work.

The work that actually moves the business.

That is usually not a time problem.

It is a wrong-work problem.

Try this.

Write down everything you did yesterday.

Then ask this beside each task:

Should this still be mine?

If someone else could do it, circle it.

That circle is not just a task.

It is owner time you need to win back.

Because your business cannot grow properly while your calendar is full of work that should have already moved off your plate.

05/05/2026

A lot of owners are not short on work.

They are short on recovery.

There is often a big disparity between what the business pays for and what actually gets billed.

Paid hours do not all make the invoice.

Job costs get absorbed.

Pricing gets shaped by fear instead of facts.

That is why recovery rate matters.

It shows you the gap between work done and money made.

Try this:

Pull last week’s paid hours beside last week’s invoiced hours.

Then list the costs you keep absorbing instead of charging out.

That one exercise will show you where cash is leaking and where to act first.
