We audit a lot of ActiveCampaign accounts, and we've seen the good, the bad and the downright ugly.

The three most prominent mistakes we see new ActiveCampaign users make (that ultimately come back to bite) are:

1) Not understanding how data should be structured in ActiveCampaign and creating multiple static lists, instead of dynamic segments.

2) Not creating a Welcome Series to onboard new prospects, leaving brand new contacts to go cold (this hurts even more when paid ads are involved top of funnel!)

3) Not thinking about the key components of email marketing and how they can create campaigns that people actually want to engage with.

So drumroll please, here are our three email marketing W(INS) for this year.

If you do nothing else, these three things will help you make more money and keep your prospects and customers loving you for another year.

1) Clean your list

Yep, you heard us. Halloween is long gone, so it's time to clean the skeletons out of the closet. A clean email list will help you boost engagement, improve your sender reputation and make sure your emails actually land in the inbox.

2) Map your customer journey

We're genuinely thrilled that funnels are having their moment. But one email funnel is not enough to engage and nurture your audience to the point where they're ready to buy from you. Think about the journey your leads take from prospect to loyal customer and start thinking about what other touch points you need to help them know, like and trust you.

3) Strengthen your CTAs.

We want people to click. One of the easiest ways you can improve your click-through rate is to include a button that's clear to see and high enough in the email that people don't have to scroll. Your prospects are busy and distracted. Making it easier for them to get to 'the point' of your email will improve your engagement rates.
