What some people may not realise is that, alongside breeding the endangered Mary River cod, we also breed another of Australia’s most remarkable and threatened native fish — the Australian lungfish.
Often described as a living fossil, the Australian lungfish is one of the world’s oldest surviving fish species, with a lineage dating back more than 100 million years.
Our hatchery is proud to be the world’s largest exporter of captive-bred Australian lungfish, helping share this extraordinary Australian species with the world while supporting its conservation through responsible captive breeding.
These particular fish are heading to our wholesale partner in Japan, Kamihata Fish Ind.
