Real feedback from real families 💙

Hearing from clients like CR reminds us why we do what we do. Every family that comes to us matters, and we're committed to making what can be an overwhelming process feel more manageable and respectful.

When families tell us they felt heard, supported, and pleased with their outcomes, it reinforces our belief that mediation truly can help you move forward without the stress and expense of court proceedings.

If you're facing family disputes, know that there's a path forward that puts you in control of the decisions affecting your family's future.

If you're separating from a partner and there has been violence or abuse in your relationship, you may feel like mediation isn't for you – or that you'd have to sit in a room with someone who has hurt you.

You wouldn't.

At Franklin Mediation, we never place parties together if it isn't safe. Separate rooms, separate Zoom calls, different arrival times – your safety comes first, always.

If you're not sure whether mediation is right for your situation, we're here to talk it through. No obligation, just a confidential conversation.

Domestic and family violence isn’t always physical.

Sometimes it looks like:
– being constantly monitored
– feeling anxious about how someone will react
– financial control
– intimidation
– having your movements, messages or decisions questioned
– feeling like you’re always “walking on eggshells”

These dynamics can continue during separation too – particularly when communication becomes difficult or overwhelming.

That’s why safe, flexible mediation processes matter.

For some people, that may mean online mediation. For others, shuttle mediation or having lawyers involved in the process can help create a more supported environment.

During this Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, it’s an important reminder that every situation is different – and feeling safe during separation matters.

If you’d like to understand more about the mediation process or discuss what options may suit your circumstances, Franklin Mediation is here to help.

"I don't know what to expect – what actually happens when I book mediation?"

If you're feeling anxious about the unknown, you're not alone. The uncertainty can feel overwhelming when you're already managing so much.

Here's what you need to know:

Before mediation day: We'll have a private 30-60 minute phone chat (your intake conference) where we discuss your situation, concerns, and what to expect. This conversation is completely confidential.

You're in control: Worried about being in the same room? We offer shuttle mediation (separate rooms) or Zoom options. The process moves at your pace, and your safety always comes first.

The mediation day: We guide structured, respectful conversations about your priorities. Whether you reach full agreement, partial agreement, or need more time—every outcome has value.

You're not alone: With our combined 50+ years of legal and psychology experience, we understand this might be one of your most challenging days. We're here to guide you through it with care and professionalism.

The key? It all starts with that confidential intake conference where you can ask questions and feel prepared.

Ready to learn more about what to expect? Read our detailed guide: https://franklinmediation.com.au/what-actually-happens-in-your-first-mediation-session/

Or call us on 0402 026 557 to arrange your confidential intake conference.

If you’re preparing for family law mediation, one of the most important things to understand is this:

Reaching agreement is one step.
Making that agreement legally binding is another.

It’s very common for people to walk out of mediation feeling like everything is resolved – only to discover later that their agreement isn’t enforceable.

Understanding what needs to happen next can save time, stress and uncertainty down the track.

This guide explains:
– what happens after mediation
– when agreements become legally binding
– and the steps to properly formalise your outcome

Mediation is a powerful step – but it’s not the final one.

Many people leave mediation feeling like everything is sorted, only to find later that their agreement isn’t legally enforceable.

Understanding what needs to happen next makes all the difference.

If you’re heading into mediation, or you’ve recently reached agreement, it’s worth getting clarity before you move forward.

We can help you formalise your agreement properly and avoid issues down the track.

Most people think that if you reach agreement in mediation… that’s it. Done. Locked in.

It’s not.

Unless your agreement is properly formalised, it’s not legally binding – which means things can change later, even if everything felt settled at the time.

That’s where people get caught out.

If you’re heading into mediation (or just finished it), this is one of the most important things to understand.
