I first qualified as an adjustor in 1996 in the Navy where I have had extensive experience in adjustments on vessels from small workboats up to large tankers. Last year I gained authorisation as a Restricted Compass Adjustor in the NT, allowing me to conduct adjustments on vessels in survey up to 35m.

I am now back working full time so will not be available as regularly as I have been for the last eight months or so. In the immediate future, I will be away from Monday 6 Jan for about three weeks. If anyone requires any compass work done, drop me an email or give me a call and I will be able to refer you to someone who can help you out.

Things have been very quiet for the last month or so, a job this morning on Avalon was really welcome. Needed a bag carrier due to my recent surgery so Sarah, my amazingly beautiful daughter (according to her anyway), came out as my offsider. Avalon is one of the boats run by Dundee Beach Fishing Charters really well set up for fishing and incredibly well skippered by Matt.

Must be my lucky day - or fate is just making up for my bike accident this morning. My other two outstanding invoice (both on the same company) have just been paid. For the first time since I started up in November last year, no one owes me money!

I have had a a really quiet time for the last few weeks, but now I'm pretty much fully recovered and am available for compass work. First order of business - chase up outstanding payments - the joys of running a very small business!

Another lovely morning on Darwin harbour, this time onboard Skye Melody which is owned by Sub Sea Pipeline Protection International. Quite a challenging job as the vessel is really solid steel and the compass had never been professionally adjusted.
