The Urapuntja Health Service Aboriginal Corporation (UHSAC) Staff Accommodation Project was successfully delivered under the Commonwealth’s First Nations Health Infrastructure initiative. The project aimed to provide high-quality, functional, and culturally appropriate accommodation to support the attraction and retention of health staff servicing the Utopia region.
MK PMC Pty Ltd was engaged as the Construction Project Manager to oversee all phases of the project, including design development, procurement, construction, and handover. The works were completed to a high standard, ensuring compliance with relevant building and health regulations while meeting the unique operational requirements of Urapuntja Health Service.
Following completion, surplus project funds were identified and approved for reinvestment into enhancing the staff amenity area. These additional works involved the design and construction of an outdoor communal space to promote wellbeing, social interaction, and connection among staff living onsite. The new area includes landscaping, seating, and shade features, creating a comfortable and welcoming environment that complements the accommodation facilities and supports staff morale and retention.
The initiative demonstrates UHSAC’s commitment to improving the living conditions and overall experience of its workforce, ensuring the sustainability of health services delivered across the Utopia region.
