She is Maria, Cesar Buesaquillo’s wife who I met on my origin trip last June. Maria is an amazing mother, partner and coffee producer who has been a pillar to Cesar’s success producing specialty coffee as she has supported him from day one with the management of the farm.
This was without a doubt, one of the most remarkable moments this year, as it reminded one of the reasons why I am doing what I’m doing: To help coffee producers connect with a roaster who values their work and appreciate quality coffee. But even further to that, to shine a light on the women who are the backbone of these farms and most of the time don’t get any recognition.
So this is an appreciation post to Maria and to all of the strong women who are mothers, chefs, farm managers or coffee producers themselves who nourish and take care of their families and workers providing invaluable support to the coffee industry - we couldn’t do it without you 💕
