Mangroves of Yardie Creek

Yardie Creek is home to two species of mangrove — the Grey Mangrove and Red Mangrove.

These hardy plants are much more than just part of the scenery. Mangrove ecosystems provide important shelter and nursery habitat for fish, crustaceans and other wildlife, while their complex root systems help trap sediment and stabilise shorelines.

They’re specially adapted to survive in salty, tidal environments, making them a vital part of the Yardie Creek ecosystem.

Once you arrive at Yardie Creek, follow the walking trail to the right of the toilet block, keep an eye out for our sign and you’ll soon find us waiting down at the jetty.

We love seeing guests arrive ready to make a day of it at Yardie Creek!

But don’t worry — you definitely don’t need all the gear. A drink bottle, sun protection and a phone for snapping a few photos will do the trick just fine.

Anything extra is simply a bonus for spotting wildlife, capturing the views and settling in to enjoy the gorge.
