Beautiful sunset tonight. View from my sewing room window 😍 It is starting to thunder.

The neighbours have netted the fig tree because of our possum so no figs dropping over the fence for me to enjoy this year πŸ˜•

We will remember them.

The SewJo has vacated the building πŸ˜ͺ I have so many plans and zero motivation at the moment. So doing a different type of stitching instead. A Granny Square Crochet rug in wool yarn - probably a little warm for working on as we head into summer.
The Sewing Supervisor is literally sitting on top of me due to a very loud and fierce thunder storm outside. He is not a cuddly kind of guy so will take what I can get. 😁

It has been a long weekend here in South Australia and the weather has been gloriously warm and sunny so I am not sure what compelled me to sew a cosy winter top!

I used a beautiful Cosy Winter Knit in yellow and navy from to sew up the #116 top from magazine 08/2021 in size 44.

Very easy to make - took me a couple of hours of slow sewing (I like to take my time and enjoy the process)

It is a bit tight around the hips but that can be fixed by eating less chocolatey snacks. It has a two piece sleeve with a seam going down the top of the arm which gives it a lovely shape but the seam doesn't lay flat so will go back and topstitch it down.

The neckline has a binding in the same fabric which is turned to the inside and topstitched down with a twin needle. It has made it a bit bulky and has slightly stretched out. If I make it again I will just do a normal stretch neck binding.

I will be wearing it to work tomorrow. My office is always freezing so it won't be too warm.

With the recent public holiday and an annual leave day on Friday I had a 4 day weekend! Friday was designated as a sewing only day and I managed to cut out a few projects and get this top mostly sewn up.

It is the #112 top from 10/21 made in the beautifully soft "Faces" French Terry from that I purchased last year. It is 63%Cottin and 37% Rayon.

I made a size 44 but with 4cm added to the width for a less fitted style.

No pictures yet as the Weather hasn't got the memo that we are officially in spring. Winter conditions prevail πŸ₯Ά

It was nice to trade up from trackies and hoodies to get dressed up for a wedding on the weekend.

I wore my that I made last year for another wedding. The fabric is a lovely polyester Bubble Crepe from .

I used the top of the to make a wrap cardigan in the beautiful Heavy Cosy Winter Knit in "Dusty Pink" from . It is so soft and warm. Love this fabric ❀️

I smooshed on the long sleeve from the and added a small cuff. I didn't want the tie to go all the way around as it would be too bulky with the tie on the dress so altered the bottom band of the Sirrocco to have a side seam to add one tie in and the other was attached in the band on the frint wrap. I used a large press stud to keep the other side closed. I am really happy how it turned out.

I got the loveliest compliment from a random stranger while we waited for a lift to the wedding. Hubby proudly told her that I had made my whole outfit. The lady said that she could tell as it was so beautiful and unique. I got very teary at how proud hubby was of me which was the nicest compliment of all.

My third and final make for the challenge

It is the from in collaboration with hacked into a skirt.

Fabric Viscose Challis Lawn "Raining Dots" in Mocha. Bought from .hunt

Size H

Unfortunately the fabric wasn't wide enough to make the shorts so I folded the inside leg seam to be inline with the centre seam on the front and back. I then cut the pattern on the fold. Really happy with how it turned out.

Big thanks again to Sam and Ruan I have had a great experience joining in on this challenge

I have been so excited to join in with as my first ever instagram challenge.

This is my by made in a size Small. The robe is made from different size rectangles that you can either draw onto your fabric or some pattern paper. My measurements put me in a size XL but I wanted a closer fitting robe. The pattern comes in size XS - 7XL and can be downloaded from Lindsay's Blog on her website.

Fabric: cream polyester satin and navy floral satin charmeuse. The cream satin has been in the stash for 30 +years and was supposed to line my wedding dress. I didn't end up married and it has stayed in the stash.

Thank you Sam and Ruan for a great challenge
