# Grid-connected battery owners:
• Use your battery app or online portal to toggle your
“Backup Reserve” to 100%. Your battery will prioritise retaining maximum charge leading up to a severe weather event so that if grid power fails, your battery is ready at full charge.
* Complete energy-intensive tasks (EV charging and laundry) early this week and during the day to maximise solar self-consumption before the weather turns for the worst.
* If you experience a blackout, immediately audit your home’s appliances and turn off unnecessary power users to conserve battery capacity for priority appliances (fridge, freezer, and WIFI).

 -grid system owners:
* Be mindful of energy usage this week to conserve as much energy in your batteries as possible.
* Ensure your generator is fuelled up and consider having fuel on standby for re-fills.

 you don’t have a battery:
* If a grid outage occurs, unfortunately, you will lose power. Prepare for blackouts by keeping your phone fully charged, keep torches handy, put fresh batteries in a radio, and keep bags of ice in the freezer.
