Who else had a fabulous long weekend? 🙋🏽‍♀️
We packed up the kids, camper & the (good) dogs 👫⛺️🐶 and took off up the coast with family & friends for a few nights of bliss! 🌊
Hidden amongst the tamarisk trees, at the base of a huge sand dune and with the beach and reef literally steps from away, there wasn’t a whole lot to complain about 🥂!!
I’ve come home with a laundry full of washing, a funny smell in the house I can’t place 😏 and feeling very behind with work, but a whole bank of new memories of the kids off fossicking and climbing and bike riding and (mostly) off enjoying the freedom 💪🏼

I’ve been thinking about why family photos are intrinsically so important to me. I’m sure growing up surrounded by photos has played a huge role, however I think it is the affect I’ve seen it play out in my own family which has had the biggest impact.
Many of you know that we have a photo wall in our house, it’s a part of our kitchen and is one of the highest traffic areas in our home. It now plays host to over 11 years of family photos! Photos which are admired by my immediately family, extended family & friends, a lot!!
It is often used to gauge time, to reminisce (especially now with loved ones since passed), but mostly I believe it has given my kids an enormous sense of security in understanding their importance in our family, both immediate & extended. It emphasises that we truly value family in our lives and the sense of community, love & support it plays.
Then, it reiterates day after day that they are key figures of our lives and without them we wouldn’t have a family, that thing that we value SO much? We wouldn’t have an immediate family without them!
There are SO many other benefits I see of family photos. Why do you value them?

How is it February already?!

We were lucky enough to travel NZ in a motor home during January, what an amazing country! Beautiful snow capped mountains, amazingly clear water pouring down rivers flanked by lush rainforest, stunning waterfalls at the top of .... actually coming out of everywhere!! 😂 I’ve never seen so much water in my life 😍 nor so many bloody sandflies 😫 bad coffee ☕️ or such expensive fuel ⛽️ 😂😂 That was about the extent of the bad though!

It really was a brilliant country to travel with teenagers. We did SO.MUCH walking (mostly uphill/up mountain) and got to do so many awesome experiences with them.

With Zali heading in to Yr12 this year, it will likely be our last big family holiday. She will move to Perth next year to start her life as an independent adult (work, uni, life)! 😭😭😭 This holiday was an opportunity to create amazing memories for our family and we certainly achieved that ✔️✔️

For now though, it’s back to the reality of work & school! 📖 Refreshed and ready to rock 2019 ☺️

So enjoyed spending my morning with these lovely people!
So many stories will come of these photo’s but especially this first one and that’s why I love it so much 😍
Mid way through a renovation of their gorgeous old farm house, it could have easily have been considered the wrong time to have a photoshoot, but instead it’s the most perfect time!!
It documents their journey, their life and their love. It will invite so many stories of “remember when” that it makes me all giddy and it hasn’t even been long enough to say “remember when” yet 😂😂
