Our fuel tank air vents are finally here!

Have a gander at a design I dreamt up while deployed to the Middle East in 2015.

Billet-machined 6061 ally, light weight, low profile (less than 1/4" thick), bug smashing, impact ice defeating, wasp denying (shallow hole with captive filter) and slight positive pressure. Available to ship this week, after some 6-32 x 1/4" screws arrive.

I've blasted very high velocity compressed air at them and, no, they don't whistle.

Sold in matching pairs, each vent comes with 1/4 NPT air fitting, silicone washer, SS filter, two screws and washers and will be up on the PKG website very soon. USD$119 a pair.

Good morning Aviators 😊

We hope everyone had an outstanding EAA Air Venture 2026 ... in person or from the sidelines. As always, what a great show and thanks to all the marvellous volunteers that make it Oshkosh run so smoothly for our benefit!

Today we are proud to announce that PKG products will now be distributed through Aircraft Spruce, as well as our great friends at Flyboy Accessories and JD Air Parts.

Thank you for your support to our small business, and theirs'. Our aim is to save kit builders and owners time, effort and expense by producing quality, practical products that you'll actually use and appreciate every time you fly.

G'day Aviators.

We're pleased to announce an upgrade to our very popular RV & Rocket mirrors - a super improved 3D resin-printed clip.

The main circular clip is very strong, deliberately printed to provide sufficient spring-back to prevent slippage under G. This works exceptionally well on RVs, but we did have a break on an F1 Rocket, which has a smaller diameter windshield bow, requiring a tighter installation fit. Installing the clip 'squarely on the windshield bow' helps ensure a perfect fit.

The weak link was the ball-end shaft itself, which could snap when subjected to leverage if the slot in the mirror arm isn't properly aligned before repositioning. A small handful of clips failed under duress on the test bench (we test every batch made) and a couple in field service, so we decided to accept the additional labour and cost of printing the ball-end shaft hollow to embed a pultruded carbon-fibre rod. We tried 2mm first, but that had insufficient grip area for the epoxy glue. However, with a 4mm carbon rod, the first thing to give was the billet-machined mirror arm. You can imagine the abuse needed to achieve that.

For anyone in need, we will soon be shipping spare clips to Blake at Flyboy Accessories in Indiana to suit both RVs and Rockets. Of course they can also be ordered directly from PKG. The kit comes complete with instructions to minimise the possibility of scratching the ball during replacement - albeit a scratch is cosmetic and has no bearing on functionality.

Hereafter, all new mirrors shipping from PKG (to our retailers and direct) will come complete with the improved clip design. For anyone who wishes to upgrade from their old clip, as a precaution, we offer a direct 30% discount on the replacement clip price (RRP US$39) plus shipping.

As usual, we wish you enjoyable flying, fair weather and hope you're enjoying your billet-machined PKG mirrors as much as we enjoy ours!

Good evening aviators.

PKG is launching a nice little improvement option for our much-loved rear-vision mirrors!

Available in limited numbers to begin with, we now offer a colour-coded bolt head fairing for a more professional looking finish on the visible side of the windshield bow. This is for those that don't have JDAirparts handles, where the bolt would be installed front to back through the ball-end and threaded into the handle itself.

Our 6-32 bolt-on option requires a hole to be drilled through the windshield bow (easily achieved, even on completed RVs), which forms a more substantial mounting option compared to our removable 3D resin-printed clip, however, the clip remains our most popular option by far for convenient installation and removal when necessary, without drilling any holes.

Occasionally (not very often), someone breaks a mirror clip. We appreciate that our mirrors are expensive (because small production runs means significant overheads) and people rightly expect good value for money. So, per the instructions, we respectfully remind users that care must be taken not to over-tighten the arm such that the considerable leverage of repositioning the mirror snaps the ball-end off the clip. We are already working on ways to strengthen the ball-end (likely by bonding in an internal carbon fibre rod), but for such small production quantities injection mould and billet-machining options are way beyond economical. With reasonable care, our mirror clips work very well!

We believe PKG's mirrors are the first and best production mirrors to the RV market by a proverbial mile, but mirrors are unusual because, in part, mounting them properly is a challenge. If you adjust mirrors with a meat-servo, buy the bolt-on version, otherwise the clip-on kit will work perfectly well for you! 😉

We just love our PKG billet-machined 6061-T6 mirrors (clip-on, bolt-on or suction-cup)... they make tandem flying so much more enjoyable when you can see the smile to match your Pax's "woohoo"!
