Good evening aviators.
PKG is launching a nice little improvement option for our much-loved rear-vision mirrors!
Available in limited numbers to begin with, we now offer a colour-coded bolt head fairing for a more professional looking finish on the visible side of the windshield bow. This is for those that don't have JDAirparts handles, where the bolt would be installed front to back through the ball-end and threaded into the handle itself.
Our 6-32 bolt-on option requires a hole to be drilled through the windshield bow (easily achieved, even on completed RVs), which forms a more substantial mounting option compared to our removable 3D resin-printed clip, however, the clip remains our most popular option by far for convenient installation and removal when necessary, without drilling any holes.
Occasionally (not very often), someone breaks a mirror clip. We appreciate that our mirrors are expensive (because small production runs means significant overheads) and people rightly expect good value for money. So, per the instructions, we respectfully remind users that care must be taken not to over-tighten the arm such that the considerable leverage of repositioning the mirror snaps the ball-end off the clip. We are already working on ways to strengthen the ball-end (likely by bonding in an internal carbon fibre rod), but for such small production quantities injection mould and billet-machining options are way beyond economical. With reasonable care, our mirror clips work very well!
We believe PKG's mirrors are the first and best production mirrors to the RV market by a proverbial mile, but mirrors are unusual because, in part, mounting them properly is a challenge. If you adjust mirrors with a meat-servo, buy the bolt-on version, otherwise the clip-on kit will work perfectly well for you! 😉
