Cotton coming out of the ground across the Murrumbidgee!

Grub pressure is building across the district, with both native budworm (Helicoverpa punctigera) and cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera) turning up across pulse crops.

We might be pushing towards the back end of the season, but these pesky little buggers can still do plenty of damage to developing pods and grain.

Keep your eyes in the crop and keep checking numbers right through grain fill 👀

Early hybrid seed canola fields have had final water and now mulching male lines out so we only harvest the female F1 hybrid seed. Seed crops this year look good!!

Although it may seem dry, diseases infections can still occur and quite quickly during warm and wet conditions such as thunderstorms. Fungicide applications should occur every 14 days in early spring, depending on chemistry, to protect the emerging leaves and developing fruit. What is allowed to establish now can lead to secondary infections later in the season.
