The use of AI. (No. Not ‘that’ kind of AI!).
It’s a bit of a hot topic.

We see it everywhere. Throughout our social media feeds.

And I get it. It can be overwhelming. You feel behind or that you’re missing out. But you’re not really sure what it can actually do, where to start and you’re not sure what to trust.

I’ll be running through some common use cases over the next little while where you can leverage the power of AI in your livestock business while making sure you keep your data safe in the online space.

Be sure to like and save this post so you can refer back and comment or send me a DM if you have any questions. I’m always up for a chat.

That's what I want every client to be able to say.
Not that their data is "better." Not that they have a new system.
Just that it's done. It's accurate. And they don't have to think about it anymore.

In a previous role I worked in high pressure environments where mistakes weren't an option. Drugs, dosages, checklists, schedules. Everything had to be right because the consequences of it not being right were extensive. I prided myself on giving staff the confidence to be able to trust what was given to them so they could also do their job well.

If I've set something up for you, whether it's a compliance system, a data process, a breeding program plan or a checklist that anyone on the property can follow, it's important to me to make sure it can go the distance and something I'd be proud to put my name to.

If I’m doing the work for you, I treat it as I would in my own business.

DM me the word ‘Done’ and I’ll send you some details on what this support can look like for you

Livestock producers need tools to work in the yards. Simple enough for the whole team. Solutions that don’t have a lag time with the spinning wheel of frustration while you’ve got a vet trying to preg test and yard full of cattle waiting for you. Something that makes it easier, not harder.

There are plenty of options that are getting more sophisticated. Which is great for some operations, especially when it ticks all of the boxes. But so often I hear about the practical middle ground still having a gap.

So many producers are paying for the expensive system and yet they still need to bandaid something on to get the job done.

An outdated interface. Not being able to backdate data entries. Difficulty recording paddock observations while driving around. Connectivity issues. Systems too complicated for baseline recording.

I’m not a developer but I spend a lot of time helping producers and understanding exactly where things are falling apart.

This gap is where I love working. Finding a solution that helps get the job done and supports your business. Making it less overwhelming.

Livestock businesses are handling far more information now than they were years ago.

Weights.
Treatments.
Movements.
NLIS.
LPA.
Breeding records.
Sale prep.
Multiple software platforms.
Multiple people recording information.

So over time, processes evolve.

A spreadsheet gets added.
Notes end up in someone’s phone.
Information gets entered twice to make systems line up.

Not because anyone is doing it wrong.

You’re just trying to manage it all with a system that supported you years ago but no longer does.

Good systems don’t need to be complicated. They just need to support you and your business and do the heavy lifting.

A recent client came to me when they purchased a new property. It was a deceased estate with no record history.

They didn’t know where to start.

They didn’t know what was required.

The first thing they wanted to get in order was their NLIS database. So we stripped everything back, did a stocktake and created a baseline. We did a database reconciliation. Most importantly, we also created a system that allowed them to keep their records in order moving forward.

Now they have something they can depend on and also have the skills to keep it up to date moving forward.

Now we’re working together to build a whole farm livestock admin system that works across multiple properties. Not only NLIS, but everything from weights, treatments and breeding data.

It’s more than ticking off the data backlog. It’s about reducing the mental load and being confident in your data to make meaningful decisions.

If you’d like to see what we can take off your plate, DM me ‘READY’ for a free call to discuss your options

Feeling like you have updates to do but never seem to get to them?

- Feedback from your breed society?
- NLIS Records
- LPA Paperwork
- Weight data and analysis
- Breeding program data

This is exactly what I help producers with. Keeping your data accurate, up-to-date and meaningful so when you to make decisions, you've got confidence in your numbers.

Most producers I speak with collect some type of data.

Weights, movements, breeding notes, pasture observations.

The problem isn’t effort.
It’s not using that collected data to change what happens.

If it’s not influencing your decisions around stocking rate, joining periods, culling or the next bull you use, it’s not working hard enough.

Data should earn its keep.
