A little Monday secret from inside our room. 😊

We have an unofficial rule at BNI Summit. We call it Policy # 14: Enjoy the Journey.

The idea is simple. Bring good energy, enjoy the process, and make real connections, because when we have fun, business just flows better for everyone. Nobody refers work to a room full of people watching the clock.

So every single week, we wrap up the meeting with a joke. Some are gloriously terrible, but they get a groan and a grin anyway. Every one of them sends us off laughing, carrying those good vibes right into the rest of the day. 🤣

Because the best business relationships? They're the ones with a bit of heart and a good laugh in them.

Alan Short from Evolution Business Consulting has spent years helping business owners out of exactly that spot, and his answer is not more hours. It is changing the shape of the business so it stops running through you.

This is Tabitha McFarlane from Tula Partners, our chapter's accountant. With over 20 years in finance and accounting behind her, Tabitha has helped businesses of all shapes and sizes get a clear handle on their finances and feel genuinely confident about their decisions.

Lynne Cushnie from Adelaide Hills Driving School is running five quick road rules questions with everyone. Rules most of us learned decades ago and have not revisited since. There will be some confident answers and some very quiet ones, and that is half the fun.

Then Anna Beaumont from Beaumont Safety Solutions is walking us through a real scenario: what would actually happen if a SafeWork inspector turned up at your business tomorrow? Anna has a lovely way of making the messy stuff feel manageable, and this one is genuinely worth your time.

Member spotlight time! Meet Lynne Cushnie from Adelaide Hills Driving School. 👋

Talk about a career plot twist. After 27 years working in government, Lynne decided in 2025 to switch gears entirely and become a qualified driving instructor. It started as an unexpected opportunity, but it quickly turned into something she genuinely loves. She reckons the career chose her rather than the other way around. 🚗

What we love about Lynne is how she puts nervous drivers at ease. Whether it's a first-time learner, someone who's lost their confidence, or a driver returning to the road after years away, she breaks everything down into small, achievable steps and builds people up one win at a time. Watching someone go from doubting themselves to driving independently is her favourite part of the job.

Fun fact: Lynne once completed the New York Marathon, only to discover afterwards she'd needed a full hip replacement the whole time! Safe to say determination runs deep. 😄

So glad to have you with us, Lynne! 😊

Time for a story that's very us. 😊

Every week at BNI Summit, we give out awards for the good stuff: most business given, most referrals passed, and our notable networker of the week. The only problem? The winner has to give the award back before they head home.

Now, one of our members, Audrey, is originally from Belgium, so a little while back we decided she needed a proper Aussie education. We taught her the immortal line from The Castle: "straight to the pool room." (If you know, you know. If you don't, it's where every good Aussie displays their proudest treasures.) 🏆

Audrey took this to heart in the best possible way. She thought our winners deserved an award they can put in their own pool room, so now when you win, you get your very own little trophy to take home and display proudly. 😄

It's a small touch, but it's so very Summit. Good people, good laughs, and a bit of heart in everything we do.
