Two speakers, two very different topics, one good reason to set the alarm next Wednesday ⏰

Lynne Cushnie of Adelaide Hills Driving School and Audrey Nicolai of Audacious Marketing are our speakers on 14 October.

Lynne helps older drivers in the Adelaide Hills and Murray Bridge get ready for a medical or age-related driving assessment, or just get their confidence back. Expect calm, practical tips and a few good reasons to feel capable behind the wheel again.

Audrey's question: when a family moves to the Hills and needs an agent, a broker, a conveyancer and an accountant, why is every business trying to reach them alone? She'll show you four simple, low-cost ways to team up with other local businesses, share the cost and the audience, and work out who your best marketing partners could be.

Next Wednesday's presenters are Alan and Rebekah. One will help you stop dreading the tax bill, the other will help you win enough work to make it a big one!

Alan Short from Evolution Business Consulting has run his fire protection business for 20 years, and he has noticed something worrying. Tax debt is growing across Australia, and it is quietly holding back businesses that are otherwise doing plenty right.

So he is sharing the exact cash management system he uses in his own business. It's the one that took BAS, payroll tax and income tax from a regular stress spike to something he honestly doesn't think about anymore. And he is covering it in six minutes flat.

Rebekah Tucker from Sandler Training, CEO across Australia and New Zealand, rounds out the morning. She believes great salespeople are made, not born, and helps owners build sales teams that don't need them sitting in every deal.

Member spotlight time! 🤝 Meet Alan Short from Evolution Business Consulting.

Alan spent 20 years running a fire protection business and the last 10 coaching other business owners. So when you start describing your problem, he is usually already two steps ahead of you.

He works with professional service businesses of about two to twenty people, and he sees the same story on repeat. Someone builds a genuinely successful business, then slowly gets trapped inside it. Longer hours, more stress, and the whole thing wobbling the second they take a day off.

Alan's goal for his clients is refreshingly blunt: grow the business, make more money, work fewer hours. 💸

And it works. He has doubled one owner's revenue in two years. Another client went from two weeks off at Christmas to four holidays a year, while her business kept growing and she earned more than she thought possible.

Best of all, none of it is theory. Alan built himself a business that gives him a life he loves, and he genuinely wants that for everyone else too.

Fun fact about Alan is that he coaches men's volleyball and despite being over 6ft himself, he is the shortest on the team!

Lynne Cushnie from Adelaide Hills Driving School is talking about the drivers who move here already licensed and perfectly confident. Tree changers, families arriving from overseas, anyone who learned on flat sealed roads with a shoulder and a streetlight. She is covering what our roads actually ask of them, the conditions that catch good drivers out, and how to build those skills back up before something goes wrong.

Nicole Xenides from Cornerstone Conveyancing is on the one document that can quietly sink a property sale. What has to be in it, what people miss when they skim it because everyone is waiting on them, and what it ends up costing when it is wrong. Useful whether you are buying, selling, or just advising someone who is.

Member spotlight time! 🤝 Meet Julie Dunlap from Marketing Works.

Julie has over 35 years in marketing, web development and TV production. So she knows what works, she knows what does not, and best of all she knows every trap you are currently walking towards!

Her career is genuinely impressive. She was Executive Producer at Danoz Direct, Australia's biggest direct response company, back when you could not turn on a TV without seeing their ads. She has done strategic marketing for Queensland TAFE Institutes, run fundraising at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and led the rebrand of South Australia's largest pharmacy group.

These days Marketing Works partners with businesses on websites and marketing that actually do something, rather than just sitting there looking nice.

Her ideal clients are the ones who would rather not spend their evenings arguing with the internet, and just want their marketing to sound like them and reach the right people.

Fun fact, Julie is the brains behind our social media channels. We are grateful for the time she takes to promote the chapter digitally - and no, she didn't write this part! She is going to be embarrassed about the shoutout when she realises.

Anna Beaumont has been in work health and safety since 2012 and is the calm one in the room when things get messy. You may know exactly who to ring when a laptop dies or the ute won't start, but what about when someone gets injured, the first aid training lapses, or a team member is struggling mentally? She's covering the people who should already be on that list, because the worst time to start Googling for help is when you're standing in the middle of the problem.

A little Monday secret from inside our room. 😊

We have an unofficial rule at BNI Summit. We call it Policy # 14: Enjoy the Journey.

The idea is simple. Bring good energy, enjoy the process, and make real connections, because when we have fun, business just flows better for everyone. Nobody refers work to a room full of people watching the clock.

So every single week, we wrap up the meeting with a joke. Some are gloriously terrible, but they get a groan and a grin anyway. Every one of them sends us off laughing, carrying those good vibes right into the rest of the day. 🤣

Because the best business relationships? They're the ones with a bit of heart and a good laugh in them.
