It’s the little things that become lifelong habits. 🤍

At a client’s home, I noticed the kids had started copying the small reset rituals they see me do, tucking in the beds and folding the toilet paper to show the bathroom is fresh and ready.
It reminded me how important it is to set clear household standards early. When children see those habits modelled consistently, they become part of their normal, not something they have to be constantly reminded to do.
Seeing that consistency pay off made me feel so proud. The foundations we lay today shape the homes they’ll create tomorrow. ✨

There is a big difference.
Because of course all of that everyday stuff around the house has to happen. Someone has to keep on top of the washing, change the sheets, sort out the kitchen, notice when you’re running low on things and make sure the cleaner knows what’s going on.
That’s just part of having a home.
But somewhere along the way, we’ve confused these things need to be done with I need to be the one doing them.
And you really don’t.
That’s a big part of what we do as household managers.
We take care of the everyday things that keep a home running, so when you walk through the door, you’re not immediately greeted by another list of things that need your attention.
Your home has been looked after.
Things have been reset.
And you can get on with the parts of your life that actually do need you.
If having someone take a few of those things off your plate sounds pretty good right now, comment RESET and I’ll send you the details.

This is why outsourcing exists.
And it doesn't have to mean handing over your entire home either.
Every household is different, which is why when we work with someone we look at what's actually taking up their time and headspace and figure out where support would make the biggest difference.
You keep the things you want to do.
Someone else can do some of the boring stuff.
If you want to see what that could look like in your home, comment RESET and we'll send you the details.

Get everything out of your head!

If you're trying to work, build a business and run your home well, one of the most important things you can do is stop keeping everything your household needs to know in your head.

I don't think most of us realise just how much we're storing and it can be easy to do! You've built that knowledge slowly over years. You know what everyone eats, what needs replacing, which bills are due, where everything lives and you've basically become a powerhouse at storing and managing information.
The problem is, eventually it can become too much.

I see this a lot with women around my age. We've spent years becoming incredibly capable at managing all of this, but the home has also become incredibly dependent on us. So rather than waiting until you're completely overwhelmed, start getting some of it out of your head now.

Here are three places I'd start.

1. How you decide what everyone eats.
This is a huge one because it never goes away. Document the meals everyone likes, your regular staples, how you plan meals and how the shopping gets done.

2. Bills and household admin.
If you're responsible for paying, filing and organising everything, create a simple system another responsible person could understand and follow if they needed to.

3. How you like things done.
Or what we call your household standards.
Instead of the standard existing only in your head, make it visible.
It means other people know what they're working towards, and you're far less likely to end up redoing everything because it wasn't done “properly”. And yes, you might have to compromise a little on exactly how something gets done.

But imagine being able to sit down and work without half your brain running through what's for dinner. Or going away for a few days and knowing the house can function perfectly well without you. Or someone else noticing something needs doing and actually knowing what to do next without asking you.
That's the goal.
Not just getting more help, creating a home that doesn't need you to hold all the answers.
If you want help actually setting this up in your own home, comment HOME and I'll send you more information.

You’re good…but your brain was never meant to have 50 tabs open!
But somehow, over the years, it can become the place where we store everything needed to keep a home running.

What everyone eats.
What needs replacing.
Which bills are due.
Where things are kept.
What needs booking.
What needs remembering.

How everyone likes things done.
And because you’ve been doing it for so long, you might not even notice how much information you’re filing away..
Until you try to focus on your work and remember you need to order dog food.
Or sit down to relax and suddenly think about the school form you haven’t filled out.
Or go away and everyone starts texting you asking where things are or how do you make that lasagne 🤪
The goal isn’t to become better at remembering it all.
It’s to create a home where that information is visible, organised and accessible to the other people who live there too.
Less remembering for you and a lot more space in your head for everything else you want to do with your life.
I’m creating something to help you start getting all of this information out of your head and into one place your household can actually use.
It’s not quite ready yet, but if this would be helpful in your home, comment INBOX and I’ll send it to you as soon as it’s done.

Sometimes the house gets away from us. You’ve had a huge week, everyone’s busy, and suddenly there’s one room, cupboard or space that has become a complete disaster.
That’s one thing.
But when that space starts distracting you from your work, your business, or even enjoying time with your family, it’s costing you more than you realise.
Especially when you’re someone who prides yourself on being capable.
It can start to feel like this dirty little secret in the background. Every time you walk past it, you think, I really need to sort that out.
But the perfect free weekend to finally tackle it never seems to arrive.
And that’s exactly why we created the ORDR Home Reset.
This isn’t about coming in with a tonne of storage containers and making your pantry Pinterest-perfect.
We care about function over aesthetics.
Maybe it’s the linen cupboard where everything falls out every time you open the door.
The pantry you know is full of things that need throwing out.
Or the kitchen drawer with six months’ worth of crumbs staring back at you.
You’ve got 24 hours in a day. You don’t have to spend them doing this.
So we will.
Two ORDR team members come into your home for three focused hours and tackle the space that’s been hanging over your head.
We sort it. Reset it. Make it functional again.
And you get to walk back into that space and feel like you can breathe again.
If you already know exactly which space in your home you’d choose, you can now book an ORDR Home Reset directly.
Choose a time that works for you, book it in, and we’ll come and sort it out.
No fuss. Just one less thing hanging over you.

Don’t waste your Sundays starting your dinner plans from scratch.

We are creatures of habit even if we tell ourselves that we like variety.
And every time you step into the supermarket with no plan, you are wasting time and money.
And it never goes away. If you are in the middle of life with kids to feed and places to constantly be, you can’t leave dinners unplanned and just wing it! It’s not sustainable.

Create a plan, like I have and repeat it indefinitely.

Decide what you are eating for the next fortnight or however many weeks feel right for you.
Set up a way to shop online and use the list function.
Allocate a day when you complete the shop on repeat.
Schedule a time to pick it up
And if you are lucky, hand over the unpacking to one of the kids (this is a bonus win 😆)

If you want this life too without any hassles to set it up, comment DINNER and I’ll send it over x

Can household inequality end a marriage?

Divorce rates are high at my stage of marriage. I’m 49, and I’ve been with my husband for 21 years.

I’m opening this conversation to encourage discussion, not to debate anyone’s lived experience.

Because household inequality has less to do with the actual work than you might think. It’s often about how valued (or undervalued) someone feels while doing it.

That’s why we need to talk about it.

Being willing to have difficult conversations about what it takes to run a home is essential. It creates the opportunity for change and leaves less room for resentment to build.

Because it’s often the resentment, not the washing, cleaning or organising that puts the final nail in the coffin when a marriage breaks down.

When both people understand what it takes to run their home, including the physical and emotional cost, they can start finding solutions together.

That might mean setting up the home so it doesn’t rely on one person. Or sharing responsibilities differently or bringing in support such as a cleaner, housekeeper or House Manager.

There are so many possible solutions.

But the first step is always the conversation.

What’s your take? Does this reflect what’s happening in your life right now?

It’s never too late to make a change. Tell me in the comments 👇🏻

No-one taught me this.

Being the CEO of your home does not mean you do everything, it means you lead the home to run without relying on one person.

Four things to do today to have your home running without you.
1. Create Systems. If something is done on repeat, create a system to make it visible.
2. Define what "done" looks like in your home. This is setting the standard so everyone is clear on what the standard actually is.
3. Delegate responsibility. This is about giving the full task to the person so they can do it from start to finish without just helping you out.
4. Review all of the above on a regular basis and if you feel there is something that keep coming back to you, ask: "what system is missing here?".

If you want more time and focus to work on what is important to you and your life... the foundation of everything starts with the home.

Comment HOME to start your process.
