Commercial, tourism & underwater photo + film. Hervey Bay, QLD. Prints & project enquiries. Hello! I'm Aqua Dan, the founder of AquaDanCreatives.

With a deep-rooted love for the ocean, I’ve dedicated my life to capturing its beauty through the lens of my camera. Each photograph and video I create is a symphony of colour, light, and movement that encapsulates the mesmerising dance of the waves and the serene elegance of marine life or people who also love the underwater realm. My journey began with a simple GoPro and a boundless curiosity. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills, transforming my passion into a profession. My work is not just about creating aesthetically pleasing imagery but about narrating the untold stories that lie beneath the surface of the ocean. Every print, blog post, and visual content piece is a labour of love, aiming to bring the magnificent spectacle of the sea into the homes and hearts of people around the world. When I’m not immersed in the sea, I’m engaged in freelance photography and videography projects for councils, tourism, and beach shoots and more. Every assignment is an opportunity to explore new horizons, meet incredible people, and tell compelling stories through my art. My portfolio is a blend of versatility and precision, each piece echoing the dedication and creativity that defines my craft. Join me on this journey where each wave is a new chapter, each photograph is a new memory.

TROWUTTA ARCH 🌿

Hidden away in Tasmania’s north-west, Trowutta Arch feels like walking into Jurassic Park.

Giant tree ferns tower above you, moss covers almost everything, and then the rainforest opens into this incredible natural limestone arch and sinkhole.

It’s dark, wet, prehistoric-looking and completely wild — exactly what I imagined the Tarkine would feel like.

Definitely one of those places where photos don’t quite do it justice.

“Watch out mate… I’m walkin’ here!”

One thing you learn pretty quickly in Tasmania is to slow down. There’s wildlife everywhere, honestly, that’s part of what makes this place so special.

The landscapes are wild, the wildlife is even wilder, and sometimes you’ve just got to accept that the locals have right of way. Love this place.

Morning reef walks at Lady Elliot Island.

Caught this huge hermit crab in the shallows of Lady Elliot Island’s lagoon on an early morning reef walk.

At first glance I honestly thought it was just another piece of coral until it started moving.

Hermit crabs don’t actually grow their own shells — they borrow empty shells left behind by sea snails for protection, upgrading homes as they grow larger.

Shot just as the lagoon started glowing with those soft sunrise colours over the reef.

One of the ocean’s true giants cruising through the blue at Lighthouse Bommie, Lady Elliot Island.

Manta rays can reach wingspans of up to 7 metres and are some of the most intelligent marine animals in the ocean, often returning to cleaning stations like this bommie where reef fish remove parasites from their skin.

Shot on the Canon EOS R5 Mark II inside the Sea & Sea MDX-R5II housing, lit with the Sea & Sea YS-D3 DUO strobes.
