Another week on K'gari.
This week the Wide Bay Towing team has been busy transporting essential goods and materials across to K'gari, helping keep projects moving and businesses supplied.
Working on the island is never your average day on the job. From loading up on the barge early to travelling along some of Australia's most iconic beaches, every trip brings something different.
Along the way we were lucky enough to spot several dingoes and even a humpback whale cruising through the waters beside the ferry. Not a bad office view for the week.
Whether it's building materials, equipment, vehicles or freight, our team has the capability and experience to transport it safely and efficiently across the Fraser Coast and to K'gari.
A big thank you to our drivers who continue to get the job done, no matter where the road ends.

Not every move is as simple as loading and unloading.
Last weekend the team had the job of relocating The Dermal Clinic’s container clinic, which turned into a bit of a mission. The site required the building to be carefully rotated 90 degrees to fit through the gate before we could safely line it up and load it onto the truck.
Tight access, careful planning and patience were the key to getting it moved without damage.
A big thank you to The Dermal Clinic for trusting Wide Bay Towing & Salvage with the move. Always good to see another local business growing and evolving.

Not a bad way to spend a day.
Our island-capable 4x4 tilt tray spent the day over on K’gari delivering new timber boards for the Fraser Coast Regional Council, helping rebuild the entry into Happy Valley. From ferry rides to beach runs and difficult access work, this is exactly what this truck was built for.
We delivered the first load last week, with more loads heading back over to Orchid Beach next week to keep the project moving.

Long weekend adventures don’t always go to plan…
We were called down to Rainbow Beach rocks after this Ranger found itself in a bit of trouble trying to cross through. Catching a rock and ripping a tie rod end out and breaking the rear axle locating bolt.
Nothing our 4x4 tilt tray couldn’t handle though. Clean, controlled recovery and loaded up without any drama.
From there, we towed it safely back to the Bay to get it sorted and back on the road.
These are the jobs we’re built for.

Yesterday afternoon the 4x4 tilt tray was back out doing what it does best.
We were called out to Bauple to assist the ambos who found themselves stuck in some seriously thick mud down a pretty unforgiving track. Credit where it’s due, they got a long way in a washed out track before the mud hole stopped them.
With terrain like that, you need the right gear. The 4x4 tilt tray handled it without missing a beat. A few new bush pinstripes on the dual cab... but that’s all part of the job.
The Sprinter was recovered quickly and safely, and everyone was back on the move.

Well… tonight didn’t exactly go to plan 😅
Got the call out to Burrum National Park to help some backpackers who’d found themselves well and truly bogged. No worries, we’ve got the gear for that.
…or so we thought.
After a slight miscalculation (we’ll call it that), we managed to end up with a flat tyre AND bogged to the guts ourselves. Proper buried.
Nothing like turning up to a recovery and becoming the recovery.
Called in a couple of the team, had a laugh, got stuck into it and eventually dragged the big 4WD tilt tray back out, swapped the tyre and got moving again.
Took the scenic route the second time and got the original job sorted like we should’ve the first time 😂
Safe to say… Burrum mud holes 1, Wide Bay Towing 0 (but we got the last laugh in the end).
You’ve gotta laugh at it sometimes

Late night recovery out on the road.
This BT-50 suffered a transmission failure while towing a 9 metre gooseneck caravan, leaving the driver stranded.
Gooseneck setups like this aren’t your standard tow. Their size, weight distribution, and hitch configuration require the right equipment and an experienced operator to recover safely without causing further damage.
Our team arrived prepared, carefully assessed the setup, and safely loaded both the vehicle and gooseneck caravan before transporting them home without incident.

Out at Eli Creek this morning doing what we do best
