TPU is proud to be supporting the Butterflies and Boots Gala Ball by volunteering our time this weekend.

The Butterflies and Boots Gala Ball is dedicated to supporting women and teenage daughters impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence, as well as abuse.

This event celebrates the incredible women and daughters in our community by providing a safe space where they can connect with one another, dance, enjoy great food, and celebrate what it means to be resilient, strong and empowered women. 💜🦋👢

The Industry Has a Standard Problem.

Too many guards are being thrown onto sites and told to “figure it out.”
That’s not training—that’s risk.
Security isn’t about reacting.
It’s about reading situations early and controlling them before they turn.
You can always tell who’s been shown properly.
They’re calm, clear, and don’t need to prove anything.
They handle people right and step in only when it’s actually needed.
That doesn’t come from a handbook.
It comes from experience being passed on.
If you’ve been around a while, it’s on you to lift the people beside you.
Set the tone. Show them how it’s done.
Because this industry doesn’t need more bodies—
it needs more professionals.
At Tasmanian Protection Unit, that’s exactly what we focus on.
We invest in our guards, back them properly, and make sure they’re ready.

We’re looking for a few good casual security staff to jump on board with Tasmanian Protection Unit.

There’s ongoing work across pubs and clubs in both Hobart and Launceston, along with some casual retail security shifts.

We’re after people who are reliable, present well, and can handle themselves properly on site — good with customers but firm when it matters.

That’s a wrap on event season! (We think😅)🎶
What a massive few months it’s been for the Tasmanian Protection Unit crew.
From Party In The Paddock (Tassie’s biggest event), to Good Gumnuts, Left Of Field, Rockin By The River, Spicy Music, Holi Festival and Bass In The Domain — our team has been all over the state helping deliver some incredible events.
One thing we keep hearing from organisers and patrons is how much they appreciate the friendly faces at the gates. Our team welcoming people in, doing bag checks and ID checks, having a chat and making everyone feel comfortable while still keeping things safe and professional.
And then there’s the crew we like to call the best front row in the state — the guards down on the barrier protecting the stage and keeping the crowd and performers safe. It’s a tough job and we’re lucky to have such a solid crew doing it.
One of the best parts of this season has been seeing our northern and southern teams working together, building friendships and strengthening the bond across the whole TPU crew.
The feedback we’ve been getting from organisers has been fantastic, and it’s great to see the reputation of our team continuing to grow.
A huge thank you to every guard who has put in the long hours this season — we’re incredibly proud of the team.
