At TPU, having each other’s backs comes first.
You can complete every course and qualification available, but nothing truly prepares you for this job like experience and good on-the-job training.
When a situation suddenly becomes confronting, fight, flight or freeze is real. People react differently under pressure, and part of becoming a good guard is learning how to manage that response.
You may not be the most experienced person there. You may not be confident stepping into a physical situation yet. That’s what experienced guards, supervisors and good mentoring are there for.
But you don’t walk away and leave your guard alone.
Having their back doesn't mean unnecessarily getting physical. It means you stay. You communicate. You call for backup. You control what you can. You watch their back and you do whatever your role allows to support them.
No guard should ever look over their shoulder when things go wrong and find their team has disappeared.
That’s something we believe strongly at TPU.
Courses give you qualifications. Experience builds confidence. Good mentors build better guards.

But having each other’s backs builds a team.

The Butterflies and Boots Gala Ball is dedicated to supporting women and teenage daughters impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence, as well as abuse.

This event celebrates the incredible women and daughters in our community by providing a safe space where they can connect with one another, dance, enjoy great food, and celebrate what it means to be resilient, strong and empowered women. 💜🦋👢
