MASSIVE PRICE DROP - CAR WILL SELL AT AUCTION

1972 Jaguar XJ6 Series 1

The Jaguar XJ is a series of full-size luxury cars produced by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars. It was produced across five basic platform generations (debuting in 1968, 1986, 1994, 2003, and 2009) with various updated derivatives of each. From 1970, it was Jaguar's flagship four-door model. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.

The car was launched in October 1969 with a series of television advertisements featuring Sir William. In these advertisements, he referred to the car as "the finest Jaguar ever". An unusual feature inherited from the Mark X and S-Type saloons was the twin fuel tanks, positioned on each side of the boot, and filled using two separately lockable filler caps: one on the top of each wing above the rear wheel arches. Preliminary reviews of the car were favourable, noting the effective brakes and good ride quality.

OUR CAR

Our car was built in 1972 and as far as we can tell, it was Australian delivered.
There is not a lot known about the history of the car, so all we can do it judge it based on its current condition.

It has a very unusual paint colour, but it suits the car very well, especially with the beige leather trim.

The car looks and feels like the 50,150 miles on the clock is genuine.

As the car is just over 50 year of age, it us very good for its age. Like any car of that age there is always something that could be tidied up.

The air-conditioning does not seem to work, and the stereo system head unit works but there is no sound. As the electric aerial does not work, it could be that is the reason why.

The power windows in the front work fine, but the back will need a service.

It is a great car for Sunday club runs and weekend cruises and is an ideal candidate for a rolling restoration.

We are extremely proud to offer this car at our Auction.

We estimate that this car will sell in the range of $9,000 - $12,500.

Please contact us to arrange an inspection – you will not be disappointed!

2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS500

The Mercedes-Benz CLS (initially called the CLS-Class) is a series of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2004.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS is a four-door coupe based on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W211 sedan platform . An estate (shooting brake) model was later added to the model range with the second generation CLS. All models are available as a high performance AMG variant, although it wasn't until the second generation CLS that 4MATIC all-wheel drive was offered.

The CLS range is positioned between the E-Class and the S-Class within the Mercedes model range, and it competes with other fastback sedans like the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, Porsche Panamera and Audi A7.

The second generation model, and was sold from 2011 to 2018. The body styles of the range are a 4-door coupé (C218 model code for Europe/ W218 for US market), and a 5-door estate (X218 model code, marketed as 'Shooting Brake'). The design of the CLS was based on the Mercedes F800 concept and featured design cues from other models including the Mercedes SLS AMG. Unlike its predecessor, the C218 CLS is available with all-wheel drive and can be optionally configured on CLS 63 AMG models as well. In 2014, the CLS underwent a facelift and featured design changes, engine enhancements, and the adoption of the Mercedes 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.

OUR CAR

Our beautiful 2012 CLS500 is a two-owner car with full documentation from Mosman Mercedes Benz.

It has been serviced, by Mosman Mercedes Benz every year with the latest in January 2023.

The car was extensively option by the first owner and by reference to the data card it has: 4.7 litre twin turbo V8 engine, Leather trim, Adaptive Cruise Control, Parking Pilot, Active Blind Spot Assist, Memory Package, Easy-Pack in boot, Sunroof, AMG Speedshift 7-speed automatic sport transmission, Tyre Monitor, Airmatic Air Suspension, Electric Sunblind, Premium Sound System including TV, and wait for it, Nightvision!

I am told that the specification level on this car would have meant it cost close to $250,000 brand new.

The car has done approx. 77,500 kilometers which equates to 7,000 per year, and it is registered to April 2024

It is so easy to say that it is probably the best 2012 CLS500 in the market today!

We are extremely proud to offer this car at our Auction.

We estimate that this car will sell in the range of $35,000 - $45,000.

The Jaguar XJ is a series of full-size luxury cars produced by British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Cars. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder, and the model has been featured in countless media and high-profile appearances.

The XJ6, using the 2.8-litre (2,792 cc (170.4 cu in)) and 4.2-litre (4,235 cc (258.4 cu in)) straight-six cylinder versions of Jaguar's renowned XK engine, replaced most of Jaguar's saloons – which, in the 1960s, had expanded to four separate ranges. Apart from the engines, the front and rear suspensions carried over from previous models as well: the widest version of Jaguar's IRS unit from the Mark X, and the subframe-mounted independent front suspension first seen in the 1955 Mark 1, with new anti-dive geometry.

In March 1970, it was announced that the Borg-Warner Model 8 automatic transmission, which the XJ6 had featured since 1968, would be replaced on the 4.2-litre XJ6 with the Borg-Warner Model 12. The new transmission had three different forward positions accessed via the selector lever, which effectively enabled performance-oriented drivers to hold lower ratios at higher revs to achieve better acceleration. "Greatly improved shift quality" was also claimed for the new system. Around this time other, minor changes were made as well, such as moving the rear reflectors from beside to below the rear lights; on the interior the chrome gauge bezels were replaced with black ones, to cut down on distracting reflections.

1936 Ford V8 Phaeton

Successor to the legendary Model A, Ford's classic V8 was the favourite getaway car for a generation of crime figures in America in the 1930s and a huge hit with the public.

In the face of worsening economic conditions, Ford's offered up multi-cylinder power and refinement at a price affordable to most Americans for the first time.

Despite early reliability issues, Ford began to claw back market share from rivals Chevrolet and Dodge and the 'Deuce' claimed the top spot in 1934, generating the first profits for the company since 1930.

Ford updated the styling in 1935 with a look that was both more streamlined and harmonious, incorporating a narrower grille, angled windscreen, and integral parking lights.

For 1936 the front end was reshaped again with a revised grille and new rear wings, along with pressed steel wheels for the first time, replacing the outgoing model's wires.

Offered once again in both Standard and DeLuxe versions, the 1936 Fords ran the flathead V8 engine developing 85 horsepower at 3800rpm, running a Stromberg two-barrel carburettor and with a 6.3:1 compression ratio.

Other changes under the bonnet included domed aluminium pistons, new insert main bearings, improved cooling (thanks to a bigger radiator and new bonnet louvers) and helical-type gears on first and reverse (along with second and third gears).

Ford remained the number one selling car in America, with production for 1936 totaling 791,812 units.

The V8 Fords earned a reputation for having great performance potential and cleaned up in stock car events during the ‘30s.

A Ford was even the chosen getaway car for infamous criminals Bonnie and Clyde, the latter writing a testimonial singing the praises of the V8.

OUR CAR

The car was restored about thirty years ago in the US, with the current owner importing it about 11 years ago.

The car has the correct 1936 engine and gearbox, apart from Aluminum heads (Kerr).
The current owner has a set of good iron heads that is included.

The body and trim are in good condition and while not concourse it is very presentable.

The tyres are only a few years old.

The car is still left-hand drive, but the current owner has enough spare parts to convert it to right-hand drive is so desired.

The car has only travelled 10,000 miles since its restoration.

The car is generally a real head-turner and makes an excellent club / rally car.

We are extremely proud to offer this car at our Auction.

We estimate that this car will sell in the range of $40,000 - $50,000.

Please contact us to arrange an inspection – you will not be disappointed!

1949 Jaguar Mk V

The Jaguar Mark V (pronounced mark five) is a luxury automobile built by Jaguar Cars Ltd of Coventry in England from 1948 to 1951. It was available as a four-door Saloon (sedan) and a two-door convertible known as the Drop Head Coupe, both versions seating five adults. It was the first Jaguar with independent front suspension, first with hydraulic brakes, first with spats (fender skirts), first specifically designed to be produced in both Right- and Left-Hand Drive configurations, first with disc centre wheels, first with smaller wider 16" balloon tyres, first to be offered with sealed headlamps and flashing turn signals for the important American market, and the last model to use the pushrod engines.

The 3½ litre car had a top speed of 90.7 mph (146.0 km/h) and could accelerate from 0- 60 mph (97 km/h) in 20.4 seconds. A British car magazine called the steering light at all speeds and free from road reaction, and said the new suspension showed great merit in comfort and stability, with performance figures very satisfactory.

OUR CAR

Our car was built in 1949 and as far as we can tell, it was Australian delivered.

There is not a lot known about the history of the car, so all we can do it judge it based on its current condition.

The car was once a wedding car, so it comes with an after-market radio, and under front dash air conditioning. The radio works well, and the air conditioning seems to get cold. I suspect a re-gassing would not go astray.

The car is a pleasant cream with black top and bottom and beige leather trim.

The driver's seat could do with some reconditioning and stitching, but all the other seats are fine.

The carpets are fine, and the woodwork shinned up with some polishing. The sunroof opens and closes fine.

The engine starts on the first push of the starter button and the gearbox engages without any crunching or noises.

The adjustable steering column will need to be adjusted as there is movement in the shaft.

Overall, a nice Jaguar Mk 5 that with a little refurbishment would a great and usable club car. An ideal rolling restoration candidate.

We are extremely proud to offer this car at our Auction.

We estimate that this car will sell in the range of $25,000 - $35,000. Please contact us to arrange an inspection -you will not be disappointed!

1969 Proton Formula 2 Chassis Number: 1

Don’t be confused, this is not a race car from the car company Proton, but a stunning Formula 2 Race Car from 1969.

We are unsure how many chassis were made but this is chassis 1!!.

OUR CAR

Originally built in Sydney by Erol Richardson for Peter Cohen in 1969. Peter raced the car at Warwick Farm, Bathurst, and Oran Park with mix success.

The car was then sold to John Torr and then onto Paul Hamilton. This was Paul first open wheeler and he raced it extensively in NSW and Victoria.

Eventually the car was sold to Russ Baldwin who completed an extensive restoration including rebuilding the twin cam Lotus Ford engine and the body. Russ raced the car at Amaroo Park, Winton and Lakeside. Unfortunately, at Lakeside he had a nasty accident and broke both of his legs.

The current owner, Dale Harvey purchased the wreck in September 1991 and has owned it since then.

Dale’s restoration work is a credit to him, have completely restored the car including rebuilding the chassis with the help of the original drawings.

The engine has been freshly rebuilt, waiting to be run in. The gearbox has a new Quaife torque biasing diff, new crown wheel and pinion and new dog rigs.

The car comes with a purpose-built enclosed trailer, a mobile work stand, the original wheels, a tool set and an assortment of spare parts, including oils, wheel alignment jogs and fuel treatment products.

The car has not been driven since the engine rebuild so it will need some running in.

The car has a Motorsport Australia COD.

This car will be a superb car to race in next year’s Historic Race series.

We are extremely proud to offer this car at our Auction.

We estimate that this car will sell in the range of $65,000 - $75,000.

1929 Oldsmobile Model F-29 Landau Sedan-Deluxe

Oldsmobile was a brand of automobile that was the oldest car manufacturer in the United States. It was founded by Ransom E. Olds in 1897 and closed by General Motors in 2004. In its 107-year history, it produced 35.2 million cars, including at least 14 million built at its Lansing, Michigan factory. When it was phased out in 2004, Oldsmobile was the oldest surviving American automobile marque, and one of the oldest in the world, after Daimler, Peugeot and Tatra. The closing of the Oldsmobile division foreshadowed a larger consolidation of GM brands and discontinuation of models during the company’s 2009 bankruptcy reorganization.

Oldsmobile’s were first manufactured by the Olds Motor Works in Lansing, Michigan. In 1901, the company produced 425 cars, making it the first high-volume gasoline-powered automobile manufacturer. Oldsmobile became the top selling car company in the United States for a few years. They had a reputation for quality, reliability and low price. Ransom Olds left the company 1904 and formed the REO Motor Car Company and died in Lansing Michigan in 1950 aged 86.

In 1929 Oldsmobile released six body styles and two trim levels, Special and Deluxe. The body styles included a two-door Sedan, a Landau, a four-door Sedan, a Sport Coupe, a Phaeton, a Roadster. Special models included, as additional equipment, two extra tyres and tubes on rims mounted and locked in front fender wells; chromium-plated bumpers front and rear, and folding trunk platform. Deluxe models included, as additional equipment, six wire wheels, with two extra tyres and tubes mounted and locked with wheels in front fender wells; chromium-plated bumpers front and rear; chromium-plated headlamps, and folding trunk platform.

Oldsmobile prices in 1929 were approximately the price of an average monthly wage!

OUR CAR

Our Oldsmobile started life at the Lansing Michigan factory as a chassis (chassis with wheels, engine, transmission, front and rear axles, brake, and steering), in 1929. The engine that was in the car carried the number FR5271 which is the same engine in the car today.

In 1929, 2,797 chassis were made to be shipped to various countries, and in our case Australia, ready to be completed into a running car.

Our chassis was shipped to Holden’s Motor Body Builders Ltd in Adelaide South Australia. Yes, the same company that morphed into the General Motors Holden brand that we know so well and love!

By reference to the body plate, it is Body number 365, Model number OLDS, Series sedan, and Job number 3735.

In South Australia it was first registered as SA 327286 which is still shown on the inside top of the luggage box.

At some point it was sold into Western Australia, discarded, and then spent its life in the rural paddocks in Raventhorpe WA.

Barry Woodley of Meckering and later Kalgoolie, recovered its remains in the early 1970’s where he started work on restoring the chassis and running gear.

In 1993 the car was sold to William G Smith of Pinjarra in a partially restored condition. Mr Smith finished the restoration to basically the condition it is displayed now.

In December 2008 the car was purchased by the current owners and used is in rallies.
An interestingly fact that in 2009 the current owners decided to add leather luggage straps to the luggage box. The straps were originally issued to the British Army Officers as retaining straps around their bedding rolls while stationed in India during the Second World War. The straps were a gift from one of the current owner’s family members.

The car is excellent condition and would be a great club / rally car.
We are extremely proud to offer this car at our Auction.
We estimate that this car will sell in the range of $30,000 - $35,000.
Please contact us to arrange an inspection – you will not be disappointed!
